This is a great idea! I've heard about series bibles a ton, but mostly when it comes to tv but I'm really considering doing this for my series!

Too old to remember all the details----SOLD! At 51, my brain is in a permanent state of overcast & hazy :P This is bloody GENIUS! *runs out to Office Depot for MONSTER-sized binder*

You can also create a Dropbox and store everything in files, so you have all the different history versions. This also helps with searching for specific information (e.g. through spotlight search)

Best succinct explanation of a series bible ever! It's nice to know other writers use the same techniques.

Ahh I did this already, but digital. The only problem I run into: as I continue writing, things change. So I keep having to update the 'bible' too. Anyway, I can't work without it! Great to see I'm not the only one.

Wow! I'm working on a series Bible as well but I never realized how much goes into making one I have a lot of work to do.

Loved this video. Can you please do more videos about this. I would like to know how you develop your characters and how you work on your time line. Thanks :)

I work like that too. I'm happy to see someone with a similar system.

So true, especially when I make changes to the continuity or character details, I have to keep documents of this all listed.

While you are planning to write a series, how much should you consider leaving behind for the books to come in the series? How much information should you pour in your first book? This is the main question that haunts me while writing a series.

Have you finished writing your series? It been four years since your comment posted. I am curious and want to answer your question.
@licarsmeth68903 жыл бұрын
Already been 4 years eh... Unfortunately no, I still haven't started writing. I had to do a keratoconus eye surgery and still haven't wrote more than a chapter. But I'm slowly recovering and would love to hear to answer!

This is really helpful and a great idea. However, I couldn't help thinking all the paper (and plastic) that can be saved by keeping it in a Scrivener document. Obviously, some people like everything printed out, but I would find it tedious.

Or OneNote.

We have already consumed paper from at least the last hundred years, why stop now? Besides, some people are more tactile in nature. I myself prefer to get things printed and readily available when I need them

I wouldn't go as far as saying "Yukkk", but as a Brit, I can't deny that I do find it weird how middle-aged women in the U.S. talk like teenage girls.
