The country has a very large population of Nicaraguans who are their next door bordering nation, and their men are called "Nicos" and the women are called "Nicas" . The only major problem that I did not like in San Jose was that when it come to "MONEY EXCHANGE" the banks are only open from 8 - 11 am, then closes for three hours and open for only 1 hour from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM and the security guards are armed with long rifles. Also when a visitor is about to leave the country it is best not to have a lot of extra Costa Rican "Colone's" especially if you are leaving on a Saturday/Sunday when the banks are closed and no one want to exchange your Colones for USD dollars which they all try to hold on to because of the rapid devaluation of their local currency. So a few days before departing the country it is wise to understand how much money you will spend daily so that you don't get caught with Colone's that no one want to exchange for you..

That Black guy who stated that he was Black and that the two young boys were white is demonstrated a lot among certain Black Costa Ricans, and i came across similar Black locals with that same attitude, and YES, the Blacks speak perfect English in the country. For a long time Blacks did not speak Spanish in Costa Rica who came from Jamaica to work on the Railroads when they earned several times more money than the local mestizo Spanish speaking population. Many Jamaican immigrants used their income to purchase farm land with very large Cocoa, Banana, Sugar Cane and other products which earned them immense wealth, and many of the local Spanish speaking locals became "Irate" and there were certain areas during night time when Blacks and Mestizos (whites) could not venture into each others neighborhoods. Blacks were forced to learn Spanish and were prohibited from voting until some time during the 1940's. Even though there is rarely any racial violence in the country at present, there are still some racial hostilities that can be felt among many local individual's.. I was told that many Black land owners sold their properties and moved to Panama next door.

@@gabriellemartinez4960 I agree with you 100% about those 14 yr old boys were definitely not white. However in some parts of Latin America Mestizos are called white due to ignorance. I have dual citizenship so with my African lense i would not see not much wrong with Marwa's interaction with the kids.
