Ok, so I am guilty of ordering my own part, an alternator, and had Robert come out to do the removal and install. On the phone, as we scheduled the appointment, Robert mentioned that he didn't like to install customer supplied parts. I assured him that I knew what I was doing...I used Amazon's "guaranteed to fit" feature so how could I go wrong. Well, just like in this video, when he got the alternator removed from my 1999 Mazda Millenia it didn't match the one I supplied. The part number on the box was the correct item number but the part number on the new alternator was for a Honda CRV. Although I could see a little frustration on Robert's face...he handled the situation like a champ. Since no place had the part locally, he said that If I get the car to his location he would finish the job at the previously agreed upon price. Lo and behold, I used AAA to tow me, my car and my newly delivered Amazon alternator to Quality Mobile Automotive to finish the job a few days later. Thanks Robert

Because of euro cars having usually longer production times, it is common to see different engines with the same displacement and power but different parts and layouts. They are differenciated with 3-4 letters as engine identificators. Depending on your car, you can see them at a sticker near de timing belt. Then, you can match your part with the engine without much hassle.
