It is dirty like most of Jo'burg but not the most dangerous point. Lived in Berea 26 years and quite close to it. Still shop in what was once Market street great fabric/habberdashery shops. Just be cautious everywhere in the big J. At least not druggies equal to Philadelphia. .

I visited joburg in way back 2006 for holiday and cab man took me to hillsbro which was a damn too risky and I told the cab man immediately to take me back to tourist area which was happened to be Sandton to lodge at town lodge and road lodge and I really enjoyed my holiday in the hotels after week and I went back to Lagos Nigeria 🇳🇬 😅

I walked this area for about 5yrs to go to work. It can be intimidating at 1st,but as you get used to it it's just another rundown part of Johannesburg. The funny part is you are more likely to be robbed in the city center than here. It's just full of prostitution but no violent crimes. I only heard of one robbery in 5yrs l used this route. 😅

I often wonder why 'some' people across te country - every town,city, province, aren't really upset about the upkeep and cleanliness. I wish that large billboards would be erected displaying photographs of cities, towns, suburbs etc of how tidy and clean they were 40+ years ago. Disgusting. Shameful. And this together with the violence and hatred has caused millions of tourists to go elsewhere for vacation time. Tourism could have created so many jobs????
