A mate had the same thing happen on an old CB750 . If you can fish all the busted ali out of the casing, you can patch the hole with arraldite and cotton (Glue a cotton patch over the hole, then build it up with arraldite.) You can also use fine woven fibre glass mat and arraldite. You need to get all the ali out of the hole though, otherwise the motor will pulverise it and it'll find it's way into the oilways. The motor is U/S as it stands, what do you have to lose?

Shit dude, why didn't you check the chain for slack sooner? I almost left it too late too, but i managed to suss it out what was happening, the chain had stretched and it was pulling in parts but going to tight in other position around the sprocket. I reckon you could just get that rear wheel off, take that front sprocket off and get that chain out without any problems, replace that chain and mend the damage and get up back up and running. By the way, i managed to get a DID DID530VX3GB116 in gold for about £70 something, brilliant chain

I had my chain checked last month when I got new tyres. It was ok. I'd just oiled and checked the tension the day before. I think it was just an act of god. Heartbreaking though.
@A_Pt_92983 жыл бұрын
@@bernardridesagain5722 spoke to a mate who's a mechanic and he says that that's not a problem, just wind the chain back around from both sides, the way it went and the other way that it untangled, its not the end of the world dude, it'll be ok 😉 he said that you could've tightened the chain too much and with abrupt gear changes it might've put too much strain on the chain, the tension test is push your boot on the chain until it hits the swing arm, if it hit the swing arm too easily then needs adjusting from both sides. But judging from the journeys you're doing you must keep on top of it bro, even after every journey sometimes, depending on how far you go.

Gutted for you but glad you're safe, watched it back over a couple of times, there's a strange metallic clink just before you do the U turn, no drain covers? Also noticed how the rear wheel seemed wobbly as you stopped? What about the notorious spindal coil? Glad you're getting some new wheels. Strangely enough as I'm getting the ZZR I considered selling my FZ1-S, even although it's very special to me, I'd have been happy to see someone like you doing it justice. p.s. in the zoomed in footage there's a gutter drain, but with no sound can't confirm that's what I heard?
@bernardridesagain57223 жыл бұрын
It wasn't the drain Michael, it was the bike. The camera picked up the sound, me in my helmet missed it. The back wheel was solid, I think the chain just gave out and that was a warning noise you heard. I'm just glad to be ok. I did 170mph the other week. If it had broke then I'd be dead. I'm sad your selling your bike. I travel for a new one tomorrow. I hope yours finds a good home and you enjoy your new one.

@@bernardridesagain5722 So glad it didn't happen last week, I'm reluctant to sell the FZ1-S, I had planned to keep it for shorter rides but I'm also buying a motorhome for family weekends and holidays, may buy a trailer and take the bike. The wife doesn't find the FZ1-S comfortable, that and with the custom nylon snakeskin seat she's sliding all over the place. We've been going up North to sort out my late father's house, she was keen to take the bike but it wouldn't be comfortable, the ZZR should do the trick, just need a top box so she doesn't fly off the back. Well, in the meantime I couldn't stop thinking about your disaster with the bike, did you come to any conclusion how this could happen? Was this really only a failure of the chain or could there be other things causing the chain to fail? Your machine was well maintained as far as I figure out by your other videos, so how could such a thing happen? Any idea?
@bernardridesagain57223 жыл бұрын
It was the original manufacturers chain. Only done 13k miles. It shouldn't have happened. My chain was well maintained and constantly oiled with a scotoiler. It failed prematurely. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do. I just have to accept it and look for a new bike.
