Wry neck and ducklings

Thank you I will try this, I have one that’s a runt compared to the rest, his neck is all scrunched up and barely drinks water , I tried gently stretching his neck but he seems like hes in pain when I do that Edit: I syringe fed it special vitamins,powdered super greens mixed with water, took care of it for 3 weeks , then it didn’t want to eat anymore even when gently force feeding it little by little , it didn’t make it

Sometimes they just don’t make it. It sucks and it is hard. We just lost a full grown duck and that really sucked because it was one of my three females.

How does putting it on the beak help? Does it absorb or is the duckling able to get it off and ingest it?

Karyn Simmons some of it gets into their mouth. I do not squirt it right in bc I do not want to drown them. I do it twice a day so I know they are getting some of it. It acts as a booster you can just put it in their water but I like to know they are directly getting some of it. If it is an older bird then I will put it directly in the mouth.

What have been your experiences with not treating it and just letting it rest?

Mikfinity I have left them be before and they eventually die or have to be put down. This is a quick and effective way of dealing with wry neck and for the most part I have been able to save chick or duckling 😊.

Huge edit here! I was trying to say leaving them alone will not work. We've been dealing with this lately and it just gets worse and they die of dehydration because it is very difficult to get them to drink when their heads are basically upside down they aspirate really easily. But you can it. I went out and got the vitamins she mentions. Started last night and gave him another dose this morning. We have been giving him his duckling feed made into sort of a soup. My husband made sure he was eating while I was gone and when I got back he's walking! Very weirdly kind of in circles, but he's trying to groom himself and chasing after things he thinks he sees. I think this video actually saved his life.

I bought mine at Walmart, any pharmacy should have it as well. Make sure it is the one without iron

@@soapyacreshomestead2226 oh my God we got the vitamins without iron. All he could do was spin around on his back when you put him down. He's walking still awkwardly he's still flops on his back from time to time but he can write himself. I'm feeding him his flock raiser made in sort of a soup and carefully dipped just the tip of his beak in. I feel so bad I posted it on Facebook and forgot to say where I got the information. now that you've answered me I've found you and I will do that if that's okay? Please let me know if it's okay to let people know that you're the one I got this information from.
