In my early days trying to master this sport (about 10 years ago), everyone used to say, 'commit to the harness'. With what looks like a 140L Fox and 6m Gator in flat conditions, you could be blasting nicely. Once you commit weight to the harness and push with the front foot, sliding the front foot into the strap gives security. Once you then get that back foot in, the chance of catapulting reduces and speed and stability increase massively. You almost want to think, if I fall in it should be backwards, giving too much weight and commitment rather than staying over the board and risking the catapult. Good luck, and keep persevering!

Thanks for the advice. My coach agrees, he says once you have your feet in the foot straps you feel much more secure. Public holiday in Auckland today and the wind is up so I'll be out there. Love you videos by the way.

Why don’t you use harness lines? It will help to use your weight to control the sail. I have impression you keep the sail too open and because of that standing on a board instead of hanging on a sail. Harness will help you to put more weight on a sail

Mainly because the two times I had used the harness lines I was thrown very quickly over the front. I was well over powered. I changed the aim of my session to at least get my feet in a foot strap and practice my water starts.

The dude is doing bloody brilliantly! Just being able to vaguely water start is an epic feat..... Windsurfing is the hardest thing I've ever taken on and in my experience there are no short cuts.... just keep slogging and enjoy every little incremental step. Mate, you're doung good!!💪🤙🇬🇧

@@iuriisimanovskyi6320 when closing the sail do you use the harness mainly or your back hand? I strugle with this to. I cant water start or get in the foot straps yet but i can get in the harness.
