Eagles are amazing. If the hurricane had done real damage, they would just start rebuilding because they must have a nest for the real goal: eggs. I giggled at "nice way to start the morning".

Believe me, like the song “Just One Look (that’s all it took)” - I like Linda Ronstadt’s version - seeing our SWFL eagles here on video is wonderful, but nothing compares to seeing, at that time, Harriet and M15 at the nest several years ago was awe inspiring, even though I could only see them from the other side of the protective fencing. I had my binoculars, which made it a little better. There were two days old eaglets down in the nest, so of course, I didn’t get to see them. I used to live in Florida years ago and knew nothing of eagles nests during that time, but after moving to Virginia years later, I discovered my first nest on KZbin: the DC Eagles, The First Lady and Mr. President. Then, I discovered the SWFL eagles nest and have been following it ever since. Anyone getting the chance to visit the nest in person should do so at least once. You can see more on the videos, obviously, but it’s just being in the presence of such beautiful apex predators, the bald eagle, our very own SWFL eagles, is an experience of a lifetime unless you happen to be lucky enough to live near this nest or another one; that’s different. I was so relieved to see M and F’s nest had survived this last hurricane. I still remember how sad it was after Hurricane Ian, 9/28/22, to see the tree but no nest. But M15 and Harriet made short work of getting their nest rebuilt in a couple of weeks and in time for the next nesting season. (But, then, we lost Harriet a few weeks after she did all that work helping rebuild the nest and then hatching out her two babies…some things, you just never quite get over, and losing Harriet left a hole in my heart.) I seem to be waxing nostalgic today, probably due to the huge relief in seeing the nest intact and M15 and F23 returning to it shortly after mean old Milton blew through. Thanks for this video today, Vickie. It was very special, especially seeing the lovebirds beaking and mating. They just take it as it comes and go on with their lives. Even though they are all a part of nature, they seem so courageous to me. Would I could take things in stride one tiny bit as well as they do… I’m looking forward to another year on the SWFL eagles nest. 🩵🩵🩵

I think F-23 knew exactly what she was doing by placing that big log in the nest. It held everything down. It fortified the nest! I am super happy that M-15 and F-23 survived the storms. And that the nest and tree are still there. The tree looks a little battered. It lost some branches. They will have plenty of sticks to choose from now. For nestorations. Ok, now, just waiting on our future eggs and eaglets! Super excited. Thank you! I can finally tell them apart. F-23 seems to have a bigger head then M-15. The only worry I have is if F-23 lays her eggs on top of that log. The eggs could get crushed while being incubated!
