E15 returned to the nest tree last evening and was still there, perched on the veranda branch, vocalizing away when I arrived this morning. Harriet, on the attic branch, and M15, in a snag in the west pasture, showed tolerance for E15's presence and watched their territory before flying off to the SW chasing a bird flying too close to the nest area. E15 flew too, but went south to perch in the pine by yonder pond. E15 watched alertly for a chance to "grab" breakfast. E15 got that chance as h/she saw Harriet fly back to the nest and M15 approaching in the distance with prey. E15 beat M15 to the nest and claimed the prey. Harriet flew to the attic and M15 flew to the pond. Harriet flew off again to check out another bird flying in the area. M15 walked up the bank, looking for a stick, grabbed one and returned to the nest, only to find E15 flapping her wings at him and covering her food. M15 attempted to place the stick but E15 went after him, so M flew up above the nest. M15 showed what a great provider he is this morning bringing his Season 8 offspring food and trying to continue rebuilding the nest for his Season 9 offspring-to-be. How long E15 will stay, we do not know. And we just keep learning about the eagle way of life from this amazing family.
