I saw the March performance of Walkure with Christine and Greer. Absolutely amazing! And I’ve seen some great stars of the past - Morris, Behrens, Jones, Polaski - and this cast is right up there with those legends.

Totally agree with Christine about Elektra. She isn’t crazy - she has good reason to be pissed off. Also, in Greek tragedy, revenge is the only answer to an outrageous murder. The notion of “getting over it” is a very modern concept; the characters in Greek tragedy wouldn’t have understood it. If you look at Elektra through 21st century norms, she does seem bonkers. But if you see her in the time period she represents, she’s very noble. And one last thought - Elektra is well aware of what she has become, what she has sacrificed in her quest. If she was simply nuts, she would be incapable of explaining herself to her brother.
