How to spot rental scams

Just Happened to me today to I knew it was to good to be true it’s a shame that people do this and get away with it and scam hundreds if not millions of people that are innocent and really struggling to make a living and just trying to find a roof over their head how people can live with themselves is beyond me.

Yup! I fell victim to this, too. Good thing I did not give up any $ I would've been out $2500 and not be in my new apartment right now.

Back in the mid 90s luckily I had a bad feeling and didn’t fall for it but now that I look back it was a scam. We were looking for a rental in Vegas and I had found the rental in the classifieds like you did back in 1995. I called the woman and it was really weird she wanted me to meet her at a fast food restaurant to get her the first, last and deposit for the home and said that she would give me the keys at that point. When I asked her if we can just meet up at the house she came up with an excuse as to why we needed to do it at the fast food restaurant. I had a really bad feeling about it and as I look back I think it was 100% a scam so this kind of stuff has been going on for a long time

Getting the code to see the house is fine. Just don't accept the offer until you meet the actual owner in person to go through some paperwork.

The website doesn’t appear on google. Every single website on google wants to charge you money to give the owner information
