Don't use "send a more precise location" if you don't absolutely have to. This feature requires 2 full WSPR cycles (2x 2 Minutes) and both cycles have to be decoded successfully which makes it harder. A four character maidenhead locator (default) is sufficient for a HF Beacon.

I have the earlier versions, HIGH and MID frequencies. For some reason, without using the "send a more precise location" option, I transmit my full grid locator (DN31xm). I transmit on all bands 160-6 meters (excluding 60 meters), 24/7. These little transmitters are a gem at 200 mW. It's hard to believe being heard worldwide with such low power and compromised antennas. On 160, 80 & 40 I use an Inverted L antenna. On 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 & 6 meters I use an Inverted Vee which gives reasonable SWR on all bands.

@@hb9vqq533 same same, what's yours? Well, nvm haa, I imagine it is HB9VQQ? I'm at K5OBJ, but just ordered one. Also relatively new to ham radio. I thought your comment was interesting, so I will have to learn more once I have the WSPR txmtr and will see if we ever pick each other up.

I got the kit instead of the prebuilt unit, because Harry was out of the prebuilt units when I bought mine. He DID help me choose the filters for the mezzanine board, so instead of getting the usual 4 bands, I got 6 bands, since two filters would cover two bands each. When I use it, I hook it to my Comet all-band vertical. The SWR for each band is pretuned for the lowest possible. It works beautifully setup like this, and the coverage is amazing. I love Harry's products. He and Kevin Loughin collaborated on a tiny 300mw QRPp transmitter you use with a general coverage receiver capable of receiving 40, 30, and 20m. It's called The Flea, and is worth a look as well as this WSPR beacon.

I also own one of these. It runs 80m-10m. I have been super impressed with its performance. I'm on the central coast of California, and I've had my signal received as far north as Ellesmere Island, as far south as the Neumayer Station at Antarctica, and getting over to Europe, Asia, and Australia. If you want to work WSPR, this is the best way to do it. Though, when I've tried it on different antennas, it seems to work great on a dipole and my hexbeam, but not so good on my Diamond vertical.

Thanks for sharing another informative video! 🙏 Really impressive unit from Harry & also great to learn more about WSPR & how this kit make it very easy to benchmark different antenna designs. I'm just starting out & am soon to sit my license test. I've been using a SDRplay RSP1 with DIY High-gain flowerpot Antenna & currently working on a dipole setup for 40m in my challenging suburban location. Your other videos have inspired me to setup a full PC-based Transceiver setup like the RS-HFIQ or Hermes Lite 2, with a external amplifier - if only they were in stock so I could get one! Keen to know if you have any other suggestions or if there are any new emerging products that I should look at? 73 from Australia :)

Amazes me how I got into VK in WSPR mode with an end fed 20m dipole I recently made up. Using a tiny WSPRlite here. It seems you can tx on multiple bands at the same time with this device ?

This sounds neat. Can one add a short message? As in if I'm doing Parks On The Air, could I include the park I'm transmitting from? And, then receive a similar message? I looked at the web site and see he is in Sweden. How much is shipping to the USA?

FT8 or JS8CALL would be better suited for sending short messages. Give it a look up :) cheers

$100.00 shipping to UK???
@deBug672 жыл бұрын
I have a 200$ order minimum to the UK because of how the UK wants international sellers to handle and report VAT for UK residents. My shop do not support a minimum amount so setting the shipping cost to 100$ is just an ugly "work around". I am sorry for this but I can not do separate book keeping for UK sales as mandated by the UK government for order below 185£. It is just to much work for a small business like mine. One possible solution for you is to find a friend that also want one and buy 2 pcs. You will then reach 200$ order value and the shipping will be free. 73 //Harry

If you buy something else like the CW thingy it brings the price down. Think Harry has a minimum of $200 for UK due the governments tax laws. Or, maybe find another ham that wants one and buy two?
@talkintech93632 жыл бұрын
The Thing your not being told is you have to pay a $100 delivery bringing the price to £206 then your hit with a £47.50 import duty on top. I paid less delivery on a 7 band cobweb from sweden. Think hard before tou decide to buy there are cheaper options.
