Stearns would have won had it gone to a third set as Emma was nearing her limit. She played well on big points which luckily saved my Stake parlay, but it was a nail biter for sure. She clearly needs some more matchplay experience under her belt if she wants to contend for a title.

All of five of Emma's hard court matches post Wimbledon have been more than 2 hours. Emma has self belief and confidence is there which is great. Her body however needs gradual building instead of weeks without matches then 2 hour battle, it cant feel good going through that then having a tournament next week not sustainable for WTA tour. She needs to play 250s to develop physically and mentally to close out matches.

@@wiredcer someone doesnt need to be on her team in order to understand a bit about sports science, Emma was tired after only 2 Billie Jean cup matches when her last match was more than a month before at Indian Wells. After BJ Cup she had to go to Stuttgart. then got knocked out quickly in Madrid when a 500 event and Billie Jean and Madrid back to back to back is standard for the wta tour.

@@deusexmachina9776 Almost all physical conditioning happens off the court though. Matches themselves will only really give her match experience, not better cardio/joint/muscle health. So if the latter is the issue, then I'd say it's more down to the fact she spent most of 2023 doing almost no exercise at all after those 3 surgeries. It will probably take a year or so to 'catch up' everything her body lost that year. Plus she's still suffering from sore wrists, so I'm not 100% convinced she'll ever be able to fully unleash on her shots consistently again over many matches back-to-back. It was a sad sight in her 1st round US Open loss, despite playing with the lighter balls, not seemingly able to hit hard & flat like she could in 2021.

@@deusexmachina9776 im not saying you've no right to speculate, and obviously as fans its disappointing when she doesn't live up to expectations. A WTA highlights vid that actually shows more of Emma's winners than her opponent's, usually it's 10-90, 10% Emma's winners and 90% her opponent's even on matches she won with a lopsided scoreline. Dare I hope all the complaints didn't fall on deaf ears after all? Anyway this is much more watchable, thanks WTA.

Got a feeling until she can develop a solid serve and a killer forehand, she won't win a Major anytime soon -- say in the next 5 years! Keep working on your game and treat these matches as your practice, Emma. Best.

You know Emma is unseeded in this tournament, while Daria Kasatkina is the #1 seed. Yet you make a dedicated highlight video of this match and lump Dasha’s into a “Day 3” montage. This is a repeated pattern this year. What the heck? Fans have voted Kasatkina “Most Liked” player on Reddit’s r/tennis, and she’s ranked #13 in the world despite a bad season. Trying to get some points back in Korea. But yeah, let’s show the far less talented Raducanu instead because she’s a British favorite. Show top ranked players! Stop avoiding showing Dasha’s matches! You’ll have to show her next one because it’s against Raducanu. Treat Daria with respect. She’s been on the tour a lot longer, been (and is) ranked a lot higher, and is well liked by fans and the players themselves. She’s the one Russian who’s taken a real stand against the war, too. Stop brushing her aside for this young player who may or may not turn out to be a one-hit wonder. Or at least do full highlights of both matches.

@@franciscoarzaga4384 I agree. Plus, when Emma won a US Open as a qualifier, without losing a single set during the whole tournament (10 matches in a row!) , a lot of people still don't understand how much inspiration Emma brought to a hundreds-thousands young British tennis girls (and not only British). Yes, she was struggling with injuries after that, but this cute lady - with her glorious fairytale victory - changed an approach of what people are now thinking about tennis. As a sport in general. You cannot deny that. She raised the stakes. She made a lot of young female players to be angry and hungry to go and win the prestigious Grand Slam tournament one day. Because she proved that it is possible. It. Is. Possible.

@@jazzthief9096Since winning US Open in 2021, she couldn't muster consecutive wins at all. One early exit after another. And that's not only because of her injuries, it's also because since she plays very predictably most players have figured her out. Emma Raducanu just stands at the baseline and hits the ball. She isn't running for every ball. Players like Ostapenko, Kasatkina, Swiatek and other top players will always get the better of her, because she is stubborn. She will continue to have early exits if she will not add variety to her tennis and if she will not improve her serve and return of serve. Even Stearns was close on defeating her. I of wish to her good luck in upcoming matches, but she won't win many matches if she will not change her overall tennis. She is also mentally inconsistent and weak. She can have huge lead and then waste it and still lose the match. Emma Raducanu is very weak under pressure. Her US Open tittle run was a fluke and lucky coincidence. Emma Raducanu is nowhere near Grand Slam champion level player and she have proved it many times over and over again. She also is nowhere near top 100 level. She is top 150 at best.

@@einarsd4 EMMA stands at thne baseline and hits the ball, kind of like Swiatek !! Experts confirm "nobody can fluke a GS, least of all a 'qualifier' (but you know more than they do) ?? EMMA RADUCANU is definitely Grand Slam champion level, how else could she have won a Grand Slam like no other player, (not even the GOATS). Her current WTA 70 rank tells me, (maybe not you) that she is way above top 100/150 level, facts don't lie, (unlike some youtube commenters) !!

Not a pleasing match to watch.! Both of them could not put two good points together. Two stepps backwards and three forward. They both kept making the same mistakes over an over again.! They dont seem to learn from their mistakes? This level will not get either very far unless they learn to concentrate.! Emma does not seem capable of rising much higher im afraid. Shes to stubborn to take advice from her coach and makes very bad ball placing desicions all the time.!

The issue for Emma is that she expects wildcards to tournaments and won't play qualifiers. Naomi Osaka has played them. Emma does not play enough tournaments. Can't see her progressing very far in this tournament.
