@@wtbm123 Report from son, who was going to finish it up last night was that the blade pulley under the left foot when you're sitting on the tractor was bound up with stuff on the underside caked on from last fall (I know, I should have flipped it over!). He also had to mess around with the spring which engaged the brakes. Lastly, he had to loosen the bolt holding the tensioning pulley that the PTO spring is attached to and lubricate under that. He ran out of sunlight and was going to slip the deck under the tractor and see if the blades spun today. So far no word, so he might be out cutting his lawn. It was his mower and he liked your video as well! Thanks!

Saved me hauling the mower to the shop! Very helpful instructions and easy to follow along to fix. My issue was the bushing was missing on the brake arm - that is an important part! Without the bushing the brake arm cant move :) THanks again for your helpful video!

From D100 owners manual on blade brake specifications. This distance is measured from the BACK of the bracket to the BACK of the nut. with the brakes resting on the pulleys. 4. Measure distance from spindle brake bracket (B) to nut (C) on end of brake rod. • Bracket to nut distance should be: 2 - 3 mm (0.08 - 0.12 in). 5. If adjustment is required, turn nut (C) on end of brake rod in correct direction to set brake at proper distance from pulley. 6. Adjust both brakes. IMPORTANT: Avoid damage! Avoid belt damage. Spindle brake engagement should be checked and corrected every time the mower belt tension is adjusted. Mower belt tension should be adjusted, if required, before brakes are adjusted.

Well done terry, a bit of a pain to do but worth the time 😀 Pity that J.D didn't add two pins to the deck to stop the brake arms going too far, the pad would of worn out but no metal to metal damage. Ooow of cause ha ha, J.D would not get the money from after sales replacement parts!.

Hopefully this fixes my problem for my s130 I got, my dad took it to lowes since its got warranty,but as usual,they messed with it instead of repaired it,so now the blades won't engage,so hopefully this is the issue instead of the whole PTO switch

i'm having the opposite problem... YES, there are supposed to be pads on it.. my blade brakes appear to engage, but the blades keep spinning... visually looks in order, works mechanically by hand when deck is removed

It may of traveled to far like this one . If not then one of the pivot points might be frozen up.
