Vitas, from Russia, sang this song and did a key change or two. Dimash did even more! This performance was so much better that Vitas asked him to not sing it any more! If you had continued watching, you would have seen Dimash see his dad, whom he didn't know was there. They are very close, and Dimash had been alone in China. Dad came to support him.

Dimash will blow you away with EVERY new song, because in each new song he finds a place to demonstrate a new facet of his talent. He doesn't disappoint or bore you. In this song, he did not even come close to his extremes. Dimash's current range is 7 octaves and 2 semitones C#1 - D8 !!! C#1- Eb2 (vocal fry) E2 - B4 (chest voice) C5 - F#6 (head voice/ falsetto) E7 - D8 (whistle voice).

FYI, the guy on screen after your first pause and punching the air at the end is his dad, Kanat Aitbayev, who had been secretly flown in because Dimash was feeling very homesick at the time. Dimash had no idea he was there. There's a wonderful point later in the video when he sees his dad. Apparently, Dimash later said if he'd known his dad was there he probably wouldn't have been so flirty. There is also a fantastic point afterward when he asks dad if he did ok? If that alone doesn't show how humble this guy is, I do not know what does.

Dimash also litel later just before walking in to the outher contestents asked his father again...was I OK? So mutch humble. I just love him more for every thing like this that I see. Also his dad was there for some time. The show after this he was there listening to him sing.

Welcome to the world of Dimash. SOS is another classic place to start Dimash. The problem is that he doesn't "top" things - he does something different and also impossible. His control is otherworldly. After you listen to Diva Dance, do check out the mashup with Dimash and Li Yugang combining the Peking Opera classic Drunken Concubine with Diva Dance. My brain really hurt on that one - it honestly took 3 or 4 hearings before my brain could even process what I was listening to - it's an addictive favorite now, but at first all I could do was repeat "WHAT?" If you have 17 years of honing and practicing your skills before bursting into the scene that is the reaction you get...just like yours. Most of the singers today are in for quick bucks that's why we get Sub-par singers. They are promoted and hyped but they are just like any singers we've heard before...dime a dozen. Have you ever worked all weekend to prepare a practical joke that lasts maybe 15 minutes? What he has done is sort of like that. He did 17 years of hard classical and pop singing training. He trained through puberty and kept his upper range. Learned to balance and instantly switch through all those voices. Then he springs it all on this unsuspecting show and shocks them song after song.

Diva Dance Bastau for sure, Unforgettable Day Gakku performance, duett Dimash Li Yugang Drunken Concubine+Diva Dance... and other songs have different surprises like Screaming Idol Hits or Adagio at the same competition which is in my humble opinion the most powerful and passionate performance ever. This is not a verycomplex song, for Dimash standards. It highlights how great his head voice is and it's fun. Sinful Passion and SOS are much harder. I recommend Ogni Pietra next. You still have a lot to see from him.

Dimash’s mum is an operatic high soprano with staccato, and he was raised seeing and hearing high sounds. Also he has trained solidly ever since 5 years old, ever expending his range up and down, and still is doing so. He was on stage himself at 2 years old… so there is no substitute for training and experience, when mixed with raw talent. Then there is that destiny thing that puts him here ready for now, and he has known about that since he was 2. He is doing a great job of opening up minds about singing and performing.
