OMG. Here I am with hundreds of variables and zero functions. The use of functions will make my workflow so much cleaner, easier and faster.

+Luke John Russell Glad to hear. Keep in mind Function Libraries are more like a global pool of them you can use anywhere and normal functions can be in each Blueprint.

What is the real difference between function and macro?

Hi... I need to ask you that ,, How can i merge one of the blueprint from my scene to other project ???,, .... Or to save this blueprint from my scene in to my library ???

Thanks for the info Mathew. What blueprint do you think I should use to be able not only to influence a variable but also to just check it? Let's say I have two Actor Blueprints that need to check if a bool is true, where would I store that bool so that the Actor Blueprints may be able to check it and potentially influence its state?

I guess it would matter on what the variable is. If this is something for the game state, like "is player dead" then you can put it in the game mode or the player state or even game state so it is accessible to many things. If it's something more personal, like "is players leg broken" then that should be on the player and you can just have the other actor check it as needed.

Thanks for the answer, I ended up using Game State since it was about variables for the procedural positioning of Actors for procedural generation of portions of the level. I decided to move those variables there because the level blueprint is already cluttered by scripts for procedural generation of the main portions of the level. And the word of the day is.... Procedural. P.S. So upsetting that Hello Games gave such a bad rep to procedural generation, now people think that procedural generation means cheapening out of level design not realizing that, when done right, to make a level procedural takes more time, effort and code since you have to design it first and than dismantle it down in modules that can work together in different permutations.

By the way, do you know why we cant access functional library from within UObject class functions?(neaither we can use functions like GetPlayerController) How to workaround this, i just can not use polymorfism with this limitation..

what is that vertex on 0:10 that extends/splits the wire??
@MathewWadsteinTutorials8 жыл бұрын
+HACKED!! You might be referring to the reroute node? If so you can double click any wire to add one or when you are dragging off you select Add Reroute Node.

How to make child functions as shown in this video at 0:48. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoTcmWN9h9xjjs0 Or are those child functions? What are they and how can you make them?
@MathewWadsteinTutorials8 жыл бұрын
That looks like it is just a custom function. You would do Add Function from the left panel and then you can call it from your event graph.

Hey Mathew, I know this is an old tutorial so you might not see this comment, but I'll take my chances. I'd like to ask you how I could add someone else's function library to my own project, since I wanna take part of a youtube tutorial series that uses one. The creator of the videos put up a link to the function libraries, but doesn't explain how to import it to your own project and I can't find the info on how to do that anywhere. The tutorial is on how to make Ratchet and Clank in UE4. Cheers!
