I've realized that A.I "art" will be most likely redundant in the future because since lots of people on the internet are too lazy to learn a skill like drawing (as evident by how many people in these comment sections and social media circles are defending A.I art because it "democraticizes" art), there will be too much supply and not enough demand for it, devaluing itself exponentially, while non-A.I artists will possibly be even more prestigious because the mass general population is rejecting A.I art (as well as major animation studios such as Sony Imageworks and the Japanese anime industry). Plus, after the A.I "artists" get their quick dopamine hit after spewing out prompts and images relentlessly or after a period of time, they will eventually burn out (like real artists do, only WAYYY faster because unlike the hours and hours of time non-A.I art usually takes, it only takes 4-5 seconds for AGI). After their burnout, they will realize that it's not quite the same as painting or doing their own art without prompts on papers and art tablets and feel unfulfilled in such a shallow venture and give up. They may have short-term success, but ultimately in the long term, they will lose to real human creativity and craftsmanship. They can cope all they want but they will never be the same as a real artist (such as a painter, animator, illustrator, etc.) if they continue to be this way and refuse to put effort into learning the craft. Call me elitist but Visual art is a skill that has held some of the greatest prestige in the world throughout centuries, and we are not obligated to share it with disrespectful, lazy, and ignorant entitled people like a mother forces their child to share a toy. They should just save themselves the embarassment and just use it to humor themselves and friends, not as a career path. If you don't have skill, you are owed nothing.

Such a small minded take wat is "drawing" wasint the only thing u NEED TO LEARN.. thats just one skill... new skills are being developed an insted of learning to draw ur gnna be doing more to the art u make with ai. Even more so then just still images.. creativity/talent arent related . U can have talent an be useless not creative an lazy. Ai art has a place ai entertainment has a place. human hart has a place.. u cant go into battle against the ai future.. its litterly part of our human evoloution so either u play w the new toys or get stuck in the past . @@ProdByGhost You can try to insult me all you want but A.I artists will just inevitably shoot themselves in the foot and be left in the dust of their own volition. If you are an A.I artist you will never be as valuable/irreplaceable as a human painter/draftsman, so stop pretending like you're not gonna have the same respect as a McDonald's employee in the future, cuz ya will. Everyone has an imagination, but fewer people can relay their daydreams and inner worlds onto a canvas or piece of paper using pencils, paintbrushes, with their own hands. And that fact is why as more and more get lazy, the more prestigious human art will be. So I guess, in a way, you A.I artists are gonna get stuck behind when you are swiftly replaced by an A.I because guess what: Even a greedy CEO OR EVEN ANOTHER A.I CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE *BECAUSE* A.I ART IS EASIER THAN REAL ART AND NOW EVERYONE CAN USE IT (Until it isn't because why would they let the public use it for free for long when they want money? They aren't a charity, so they are going to charge absurd rates for it and soom it'll be EVEN MORE risky to be an A.I artist rather than a real one since, ironically, there will be more and more people using the argument "Why would I pay you to generate a painting for me when I can just do it myself?" And what would you say to that?) So I suggest you make a decision to do something else other than A.I art or you will be the one left in the dust.

@@tristan_the_cyborg_wolf695 i aint reading all that shit for one u calling me a AI artist when ive took it upon myself at age 16-17 to learn how to create music? since 2011 i learned how to make beats. ive been creating more so then you ever will be able to by pure fact ive always been creating from the ether from my imagination since the start of my journey..u on the otherhand as a "artist" NEED reference to create. so your basically a copy paste machine as AI. the only time you are able to create out of your mind as a aartist and not making abstract bs is when youve looked at so much refrence and done so much studys of others art that its EMBEDDED into your brain hmm almost like AI. so for one theirs a place for everything. an someone who has been creating for 10-11 years. welcome to your new reality. .

@@ProdByGhost Nope... a true artist, a veteran, does not need a reference. This is a misunderstanding from those who don't know the craft (no offense). Early art students need references. AI instead, ALWAYS need to base on reference material, as it can only mix and predict from scrapped data. Someone mentioned AGI, we have not got to AGI, _not even close!_ and I - like many- strongly doubt AGI will ever be achievable, if the concept of what it is, a self aware conscience, is not changed by convenience. Without self awareness, art, by definition, cannot be created, full stop. One of the reasons why in court is often denied the right for copyright over AI generated art (no actual human in the full process). A truly experienced artist knows the anatomy rules (btw, something that AI does not comprehend, it just can't) , as well as perspective, composition, color theory, lighting, enough to fully construct from zero any actual very realistic scene. I know this pretty well, as this is my everyday job. Music (as much as I admire people dedicated to it) and visual art share practically nothing. They are very different disciplines. And both need immense skill (years of very hard training) if we are talking about really mastering a profile. Music, visual art, writing, and many regular jobs are under the same threat with "AI" (LLMs, eally). But as usual, people only truly react when they think it will affect them. And by then, it is often too late. I am old enough to realize how many times this cycle repeats itself in history.

One good thing about Cara I noticed were the multiple cool job listings and opportunities for artists from studios and other artists. I haven't applied for any of them as I'm already working full time at the moment but if that works properly, seems like a great opportunity for artists to find some cool work. Job varied from comics to webtoon to gaming art and development and more so if anyone tries these out and gets a great gig do tell how it goes!

Then all this AI stuff, I tried to opt out and it literally wouldn't accept my request, I know other social media sites do the same but it really makes me uncomfortable about posting ANYTHING on there... like not even art at this point, I can't even post a photo of my dog on my PRIVATE!! account without it getting scraped to train their AI? People join fb and instagram and agree to give them royalty-free license to posted content and it's fine but when they want to use it for AI it is not. I truly don't believe in any protest or whatever. It's just an illusion of control. I really understand what is this all about but I think we are sadly trapped. If you won't share it then people who don't care about this will share your art somewhere and it's done. If you won't let them share then how will you promote? Will you show yourself without art in posts? So AI can use your face to train? Kinda insane. And what will you do as an illustrator or graphic designer when someone will come to you and ask to do things with AI because it is faster/better/cheaper? Will you really refuse to earn when at the same time you don't have clients for your art? I already experienced this. People are getting aware of it. This will get more popular. Maybe it will just take us to a place where art is only a form of relax and not a business. This is sick but I really don't belive this will stop.

I wish I got paid! But no, I'm not getting paid for this. While it might come off "promotey" I'm just moreso sharing my POV of the situation since it's a hot topic in the art community and I personally am trying to be better at KZbin which means catching onto discussing topics while they're still fresh. Again, I personally don't have plans to migrate to this App as my MAIN platform for now, but I've already done research regarding Glaze in my previous AI videos which is the one reason why this kind of stood out to me. If anything the creator of the app is someone I've followed the journey of some time who is pretty anti AI and anti art theft as she documented her journey suing someone who infringed on her copyrighted work. But again, nothing is 100% ever safe IMO but I'm just here saying my thoughts on what I would do personally do for this instance in time!

@3polygons
@3polygons 3 ай бұрын
@@ConcavePgons Good point, but maybe a bit too niche... Indeed, both DeviantArt and ArtStation suffer from a similar problem. Instagram has (had?) the tremendous advantage of being fully mainstream. Super massive traffic (well handled some years ago, very negative algorithm changes lately), easy contact with average Janes and Joes, be it as clients or simple fans/followers of your artwork. Artists focused sites usually do not count on this important advantage, which is crucial. If Cara finds a way to also attract the mainstream, it would be an absolute no-brainer, a win-win. *IMO, it already is, if only as a fight against AI* . Newgrounds was not 'artist focused', but it was not really fully mainstream, IMO. Not a huge social media like Instagram, Facebook, etc. Even Tumblr had more variety in the audience than all of these, and I never considered it a fully successful platform, but was still on another league. ArtStation had the title of THE site for triple A artists (so many left it, pissed off due to AI), the best of the best in the industry. But the younger ones might not remember that this crown has been swapped pretty often. Sites like Polycount, CG Chat or CG Talk covered that function before. And like of those, AS, DeviantArt and Instagram can (and probably will) be replaced.

The great thing about Cara is precisely that, the lack of a business-oriented model. Back in the Deviantart era, most users were artists, students or hobbyists who just enjoyed art and the communication was relatively healthy and active. There is a huge difference with IG is that in Cara you have the option of being a professional or a hobbyist, while in IG you have almost forced to become a 'business'(algorithms, hashtags, times to post and all the nightmare), which has rotten our minds and even some careers. Personally what I like about Cara the most is that is like to be in a mix of Deviantart and Artstation, with the best of both worlds, and have the opportunity to make friends, know job opportunities and even make contacts. And at the end of the day, in this profession, contacts is what gets you far in your career. Of course, anyone who wants to be a business is free to continue the model of IG, but I don't want to spend my life depending on sticker sheets or washi tapes because there are more professions out there, and thanks the sky Cara is the best potential answer I have seen in years.

I came to the comments to say pretty much exactly what you were going to say haha! I completely agree - it’s nice to have a space for artists again after all of this time! One thing that I want to add: in the past, most (if not all) art careers were built by networking with other artists, and the phenomenon of artists creating a sustainable income through direct sales and advertising revenue is pretty new. No shade on it, since it’s awesome that artists have many more opportunities to pursue their art! But I think it’s kind of obscured our thought process on how to generate income from our art. We don’t have to souls our souls to social media and KZbin if we don’t want to! Back in the days before internet (and in the early days when craft-specific message boards existed) other artists would connect with each other and build friendships and/or strong working relationships - and when someone had the opportunity to pass a job along (whether a direct hire, a project, or maybe a star artist getting asked by a gallery if they had any friends) they would send it over. We would build contacts over time and build our portfolios until we had enough projects/clients/customers to make our income. It’s not as glamorous, but it’s definitely still viable!

@@HyperVillainy Completely agree! Animation, comic and videogames still works through networking, that I can confirm. Personally I think the problem came when agencies started picking illustrators according to the numbers of followers in Instagram(and from that to all the indies online shops, and everyone knows the rest). That's the only thing everyone knows because of all the reasons you mentioned, and precisely what I'm looking forward to 'heal' with Cara. For the moment there are tons of discussion about different topics, something that not even Threads could make at the moment. And there are not businesses, only professionals. Which may sound strange but the way to communicate in Cara is way more personal. You're talking with the professional, not with the business. They won't try to sell you anything, they just talk about their experiences, their goals, etc. which is something really useful if you're starting.

We should start doing that to be honest. Not just glazed over, but we could make accounts with just dogshit art with a bunch of noise, fucked up perspective anatomy and exposure and just fill the app with it. Poorly photoshopped pictures of deformed people, that sort of stuff. We're a pretty big community, if you take your art and just fuck it up before throwing it into instagram it doesn't take much at until it does *something*

@@Temu-u3e While the situation seems grim I don't think it's is as bad as you might think. AI and robotics are improving rapidly and in a couple years most jobs might be able to be done by AI and robots, as a species we should seek to prepare for a world where humans are not required to work. And humans will always make art whether AI can do it better or not, just because robots can make pots doesn't mean humans don't do pottery nowadays. Currently the issue is that the AI was trained unethically and poses a threat to peoples jobs, but in the future the job thing might not matter and while the unethical training is unfortunate it already happened so moving on is probably the best decision to make. AI is a tool and as any tool it's neutral, the way you utilize it is what is good or bad. Anyway the point in trying to make is that while you can't do anything to prevent AI from developing you can prepare yourself for a world with AI, and be aware that humans will always make art one way or another. What we are currently going through is a big shift in human history which will change a lot of things. While we can't predict the future we can do our best, and that's what matters most.

When Twitter was in a meltdown, people were migrating towards places like Misskey, Aethy, and Matsodon. Then people return back to twitter because there isn't enough traffic on those sites. Then the cycle is happening again and now people are moving again to another site. To me, its tiring. All support to CARA in fighting off unethical AI. 5:08 @mewTripled A very important differentiation here: "Glazed" images do not in any way result in AI's creating f'd up results! What you are talking about here is "Nightshade"! "Glaze": Simply makes images harder to read for AI. "Nightshade": Poisons AI, so that it will interpret images in a wrong way (seeing a hat instead of a rabbit for example). In the near future they want to combine both into one. For now you can use Glaze and optionally Nightshade as a second step.

Whenever I see a hyper realistic rendered image or a detailed character design, I immediately zoom in and look for inconsistencies. Most of the time, I find them. I also find images that have clear traces of AI generation but that have been minimally edited to make it less apparent. There's just no escape now. I even see AI generated commercials on TV.

Despite the massive increase of generative AI posts, I still don’t plan on signing up for Cara at this time. AI art is amazing, and it saved me from 100s if not 1000s of wasted money, and more importantly from wasted time interacting with entitled artists. Now, even voices, music and songs, and at the near future 3d models, and every other kind of assets. Even entire AI-generated movies, and real-time game emulation will be a reality within 2 years from now. If you don't want your art (any kind) to be used to train AI models, then do NOT post it on the internet, especially if you have it free and publicly available. At that point you have already gave permission, so stop crying. As for those saying that "AI will never be creative". Please, learn how the human brain works. We just recognize patterns, and then combine them to create new ones, we do NOT make anything from 0. Also, let's not even talk about the fact that current AI models are already better than the vast majority of humans at generating art (images or music). Anyone that uses these models knows it, only the butthurt people that cry about them try to deny reality or don't want to admit it. About Glaze and Nightshade. 2 years later, and they produced 0 results. The image and video generation models keep getting better each month. Maybe next time try to learn how these models work, and how they are trained.

(This is from my web designer's perspective) Cara is starting out great since its features cater to not just artists but if you're not one and just like watching art you're free to enter and lurk or just socialize. Website is literally free go in and lurk. And it gives that old twitter vibes back when twitter wasn't riddled with adds or shtposts. It might enter that same phase but if it employs a REGULATED tribunal that helps in regulating content and censorship within the site. Preferably made from willing volunteers from the site and in turn will help ease the burden for the devs. Hey free labor is free labor and I'd personally be glad to actually join it to help the community. However, they may need to scan these people for various things and if all goes well and they manage to get at least a few hundred dedicated good people, I could see this platform soar through all other social media sites in less than 6 years.

Unpopular opinion but y’all be over reacting over AI, oh no AI is learning how to “draw” what exactly is the difference between AI learning how to draw and a person. If you don’t want anyone using your work then don’t post to a public forum where if someone wanted your art exactly they could literally just download the image from that platform and do whatever they want for it. If ya think AI is really that bad then sue the developer but your probably going to loose because most of what they are doing is considered fair use

If you’re in the EU the opt out form or request form MAY work for you. Glazing things may only help so much. The fact is they’re stealing EVERYONE’s content, not just artists. So every photo, video, story, text gets input into the system. Complaining about it all over may get them to notice more: “the squeaky wheel gets the oil”.
