I usually dont play these kind of games but I do like to watch them get played by others or see a friend play them and I sit beside and just watch and help em out when I can. So if you ever thought of playing a game for more then one time from time to time, please play this one! (I wouldn't even mind if an episode took 4 months to record! :P). Hey TB, if you are a fan of the older style dungeon games, surely you remember one from Interplay called Stonekeep. I grew up watching my dad play, and later played it myself. If you know it, you know that this Grimrock version is strikingly similar, including the way the map works, and actually, even some of the enemies, and especially the secrets in the repetative style walls and tricky no-bs puzzles. If you haven't played it, I really recommend it. In my opinion, still a truly great game.

Here's a beginner tip for the beginning (which can be a little challenging). Give anyone who can't attack in the back row rocks. They can be weak throwing weapons. They are also good to throw at enemies while running away when low on health.

I was born in 96 and I completely agree. I grew up with games like Duke Nukem but in the past six months I have developed an obsession with first person dungeon crawlers. And though games like Skyrim are still amazing, I've been obsessed specifically with the old school dungeon crawlers. I just went on a google hunt for some and I found this. Definitely getting it.

This is exacly how AD&D projected their video games back in the 90's with Eye of the Beholder, Ishtar etc. Most people however may find it boring or repetitive after playing a hour of it. It cant really compete with modern games out there. I still play Commodore Amiga Eye of the Beholder, so this game is right there on my most wanted list.

7:35 when he turns to the right... Looks like a button in that wall he missed. Maybe thats where the key is? Or just another secret. Wonder if he ever noticed that... Thumb up to let him know about that secret. On another note, have been anticipating this game for a long time. Downloaded DOSBox, Dungeon Master 2, and Eye of the Beholder 3 to satisfy myself in the meantime. Being 20 years older now, they are poor substitutes for the epic revival that I hope Grimrock will be :(

I finally beat this game not to long ago, just noting to people who don't know, you can use the Q and E keys to rotate 90 degrees, and you will need to master doing so. It's a lot of fun, and a lot of frustration (Thats old school for ya). Well worth full price in my eyes. Also They are making a Grimrock 2!
@sonicman8612 жыл бұрын
edit: no it isn't a bug. He opened one gate with the key, but there was another gate beyond it. There is probably another key in one of the cells (probably under a cloak or something) near where he fought the undead soldier with the teleportation trick.

This is a fantastic game. The puzzles are amazing and the number of secrets is maddening. It reminds me most of Dungeon Master II, one of my favorite childhood games. The combat is simple yet fun because of the numerous challenges (as in, the game is pretty damn tough in some parts). Add in the rpg element and party creation system and the game is great.
@BikepackingAdventures11 жыл бұрын
Dungeon Master, Chaos Strikes Back, Eye of the Beholder (I, II and III), Captive, Black Crypt, Knightmare.. so many of these Dungeon Crawlers back in the early 1990s. Faster Than Light (woosh!) started it all with Dungeon Master back in 1988 on the Amiga 500 (yes I am aware there was a version for the prior Atari ST as well - but the sound sucked. Grimrock looks like very interesting throwback - I will have to give this a go!
@modernant100811 жыл бұрын
Anyone who thinks they might like this game needs to buy it ASAP, it is fantastic. The only two caveats are that there is a relatively small number of items with only 4 or 5 different weapons and armor for each type so don't expect tons of loot drops. Also the AI is easy to exploit and most of the time you will be moving in a square pattern where they won't even be able to hit you. The exploration is great and it is a wonderfully refreshing game. The Dungeon Editor is also great.
