The building is close to his house. It's really that simple. People need to quit trying to stir up controversy!! I'm sure there's a lot of buildings in this country with bad history. To put it into context, watch Matt Walsh or Candace Owens opinions. Candace knows Jason Aldean and his wife personally. They both refer to how this song compares to many popular rap songs that seem to get a pass. The lyrics to those songs promote violence, drugs, gang banging, etc. Sadly this is the world we live in.

About the building, ONE lynching occurred in 1927. Jason didn't know that. It's the oldest building in that town. Someone had to dig deep to find that. There were two scenes from Jan 6th. Jason was trying to say that small-town people know their neighbors, the business owners, and the police. The bad scenes were about riots, not peaceful protests. Not once did he mention BLM or race. If you watch again, it showed white people doing dumb stuff. Yes, I live in a small town, and I have my neighbors back, and they have mine. By the way, that same building was used in a Hannah Montana show. No one called her racist. It's the woke digging.

Sorry I don't believe that for a minute. 1927. The event was started when a white girl waiting for her school bus was raped. The sheriff had 2 bloodhounds and they followed the scent to a suspect.. The question always is... Did he commit the crime??? She had said she bit him on the hand drawing blood.. He had a fresh bite on his finger... You can have whatever opinion on lynching.. To me the events match the theme of the song..and do not think it's a coincidence... I have a degree in computer science and do a lot of historic research I'm not woke just curious What I did not do is look into if there were other lynching there But I doubt it

We had some people come in to our town and destroy some of our town lineage, and you would think they committed capital murder, because there wasn’t one person in that town that wasn’t fighting to save what we had! The courthouse was unfortunately the site of a lynching, many many years ago … Jason Aldean was not aware of it, he used it to showcase justice, and it happens to be in the town he lives in. Same could be said about Disney, who also used it in a show a few years back, and no one called out Disney for racism based on the courthouse. The double standard is ridiculous. Loved your reaction, keep your eyes and minds open, and keep speaking the truth ❤

I grew up in a small town in Texas and moved to Austin Texas and watched it degrade over the last 30 years. The song is addressing what the fundamental beliefs of right and wrong were when we made this country. The cities, crime, and riots regardless of race is being addressed along with a notice to the government that attempting to take our rights away regardless of color will not end well. It's a message that should be loud and clear regardless of small town or city. But division has created narratives that are blinding us and dividing us. Unify under one message. Thank you for your fair reaction and analysis of the song. You guys are great.

The ONLY ones making it an issue are those that despise Jason Aldean and his conservative views. It's all political to them. Plus, they don't like that the song is a small town rallying cry that could potentially get their anarchist foot soldier allies injured or killed. Jason Aldean clearly warns them when he said, "I recommend you don't." If they choose to ignore the warning and cross that line, the negative consequences of that choice would be 100% on them. But I don't think very many of them would get out of there alive.

We should all be against violence and lawlessness as Americans if any of us have any integrity as citizens. The courthouse in Jason’s film has been used in many different movies as a backdrop. It’s a prime example of the 1800s architecture. The single adverse event that some people latched onto was a 1927 lynching that took place. The reason it was chosen by Jason was that it was close to his home, it was free, and it needed little setup.

The protestors realized they weren’t going to be allowed to destroy anyone’s property and never tried it again. We never raised a hand to them. We just stood as force between them and our neighbors of all colors, creeds, and lifestyles. THAT’s what this song is about.

Im a vet. who served my country as a loving American who believes America is the best place in the world. After, seeing and hearing this song, I agree 100% with the song and its meaning, and feel almost exactly the same as "Church Boy". Its time for all Americans to get behind one simple truth, its time to do right! Stop all the non-sense looting, burning, and violence. Have heart, manners, and a collective soul. Do unto others as you would want done to you, give respect to everyone. Im sick to see how divided this country that I love has become, and how the government has turned everyone on each other with racial crap. I dont care what color, race, religion you are, ive fought with all, and it was never an issue in the time of war, it was brother, i got your back by all who served, and we never seen anything but green. I would have helped anyone I seen in trouble in Iraq, because in my eyes, they were all family ! My family, and id go to hell and back for all of them. My brothers and sisters serving, and have served, god bless you all ! Be safe !!!! Last, I hope and prey, to see the day, before I die, where all Americans come together as a nation, a family, and stop all the non-sense, be real, be the best person you can be, give respect to all, and just live as Americans, as we are all 1big family - - - - - America !

This song represents the very spirit of this country. It's community, it's supporting each other, it shows a strong moral compass. It is not racist, it's not religious, nor does this video encourage violence. It shows that in any small town no matter the color, you don't show respect in it, you get none in return.

In my small town the leaders of the Black community wanted to have a march and rally during this time. They applied to the city council (which is comprised of many races) and were granted permission. Following the law. Local law enforcement volunteered to walk with them for their protection from outside folks. They accepted. The march and rally went ahead white and black together. It was moving to see how far we’ve come. I remember Jim Crow and all that BS. Something goes wrong we stand together. Just the way it is. Knocking down a woman on a sidewalk and carjacking an old woman's car at a red light. There's consequences. A courthouse is emblematic of small towns. Small towns aren't going to allow the behavior we're seeing going on in big cities. No lawlessness allowed and there will be consequences. It's very important that honest hard working people stand together, regardless of who they are. It's a great song that hits me in the feels because we love our small town. People shouldn't try to make it about something it's not. It's about unity and love in small towns. Locally owned businesses means a lot to our town.

Purely speaking on the building he chose to stand in front of ( a Tennessee courthouse ), I think most people that aren't from the South won't really understand. For me, it was clear he chose that building because 1, he's from Tennessee and 2, that kind of colonial architecture is representative of most small towns in the South. The town I grew up in is only like 10k people or so and downtown is still nothing but colonial buildings, including most of the houses. Imo, it was nothing nefarious and he chose the building because that is the majority of the type of buildings you're going to see around small towns in the South.

We had people coming from hours away to protest. They were making threats on social media to loot and destroy days before the event. Our well armed citizens turned out in large numbers and it’s an open carry state. Not one protest had any violence. This song is a warning to those who might think they can act a fool in small towns we won’t allow it like the big cities did. Aldean grew up on the outskirts of Macon, GA. He lives not too far from that courthouse in Tennessee. It wasn't chosen for it's history. I've lived in a small town all of my 47 years and I can tell you, we stick together regardless of color or background. There was a group of black ladies that would do an exercise walk in the mall on Saturday morning. They'd pray before and one day were asked to leave because they were praying. The following weekend, hundreds of us showed up in the mall parking lot, shoulder to shoulder, all races and prayed with those ladies right in front of the mall. In small towns, we stick together and as Aldean said, we protect our own. Our guns are our means of hunting and defending our homes and families. If someone seeks to take your guns it's because they intend on doing something you'd shoot them for. We don't care who it is, if our communities are attacked, we will defend each other and each others businesses and homes from being destroyed. Isn't that how it should be all over America?

I LOVE you two! I'm so glad you reviewed this song! First, Jason was the artist on stage when the mass shooting occurred in Las Vegas so he is no stranger to hate and violence in our great country. Second, I am a 57 year old Caucasian woman from a small town in south east Texas. My neighbors are Black, Hispanic, Puerto Rican, Asian, Middle Eastern and Caucasian. We all have one another's phone numbers and know one another's names. We watch over one another's property and children and help whenever needed with home or yard projects (and at times with cars and trucks lol). If one of us is down we feed one another, offer open arms and lift one another up. You can bet that if ANYONE came to our neighborhood or town with the notion of destroying, stealing or hurting our people we will be there!... in force. We are ALL wonderfully created by (in my personal belief) by God and we are all His children. I LOVE that we ALL have different points of views and experiences AND that we are all so very very similar in that we all want love, peace, security and companionship. I pray that we all listen more to one another and far less to the politicians and media and that YOU, Jai and Half are blessed beyond measure! In my 50s and spent half of my life in the country and half in the city, so I've seen plenty of both. The song to me is about country people and our lives. We are taught from birth to defend and support our family and neighbors. We don't care where you're from or what color you are, if you are our neighbor, then you are part of our "small town". We love God, family values, our country, our flag, and our fellow law-abiding citizens. We come together when the community needs us. He's stating that we would not tolerate this kind of chaos, criminality, and disrespect in small towns across America, especially in the south, no matter who is doing it. This is why I'm moving back to the country at the end of the year. Life is much simpler, there's a sense of community and respect for each other, and most people are genuinely nice. In the city I live, these things do not exist or are rare to find. As far as the courthouse, I can't tell people how to think, but my opinion is that it's usually the video director's choice where the videos are shot. That being said, did we permanently close down the schools where the horrible mass shootings took place? Do we still use houses where murders have taken place? We continue to use places and buildings where horrible things have happened, it's just a fact of life. Did they even know what happened at that courthouse? Who knows, but what I know is the people who are digging this deep to try to make something fit their agenda have way too much time on their hands...absolutely grasping at straws. I think Jason Aldean is representing how the majority of Americans feel about the state of our country and the absolute lack of respect for anything, especially for law enforcement and the safety of our citizens. Thanks for this video and great job as always H&J.

So many lives lost, sad that still going on today here. Thank you again for your responses❤❤❤ you have my subscription 🥰

@treejohn01, I will never understand why people live in places like Minneapolis. I would love to see churches in small towns offer relocation help to families trapped (due to resources) in these hell-holes. Especially young black & brown families with small children. Due to all of the black young men dying at the hands of other black men, many lives could be saved.

@@veraham9101 I can tell you exactly why. They grew up there when it was fabulous small city. When growing up there, I don't know, but I would be surprised if there were more than 10 or 15 murders/year in my 1st 15-18 years. There was 50% higher population than now. We were booted out of our houses at 9 a.m. in summer. "Dinner's at 5". No more. Gunshots where my daughter lives. This is progress?

I noticed this in Illinois between Chicago and towns in central Illinois. People in those small towns were already mapping out how they were going to surround potential rioters strategically. Jason is right.

Hannah Montana the movie was filmed at that courthouse. No one called that movie racist. They are reaching for anything. As far as the January 6th riot, those people had an issue with something they felt was taken from them. Instead of burning down towns, or looting peoples businesses, they went to the source of the problem. This song is 100% accurate. We don't put up with the nonsense in small towns. We look out for everyone. It doesn't matter the color of your skin, only your character.

Most of the racists today are arrogant condescending white liberal elites on the west coast and northeast, not in the south. I am a few years older than you and still saw a lot of it when I was a young child, but even then it was the older generation. I get alone fine with almost everyone except radical white liberals. As a white guy I am a minority at the company I work for and we all get the work done together, while actually having fun together on the job. The elites campaign on bringing people together, but the want chaos and not unity.

You will never hear someone of Irish ancestry today say that someone held us down.

I’m from a big city and I understand. However, I’m definitely in the minority because I’ve heard too many people make excuses for the criminals. I think I see differently from the average big city slicker because my Dad grew up in a very small town in Kentucky and I have visited there plenty of times. I’ve had conversations with kin and neighbors there and no way rioting and looting would go on. I’ve had it here with the increasing crime and hearing excuses for criminal behavior. That’s why I’m moving from Chicago to a smaller town next year! I can’t stand the crooked politicians catering to the criminals and then the law abiding citizens suffer.

SC girl here!! wish i could say i reside in a small town, but charleston is straight exploding! if you dont mind jc which town? but i will say my family is either from really small towns or major cities. and the culture and mentality is NIGHT and DAY! small town is more likely to hold on to their faith. morals. traditions, and has a sense of community. they arent worried about adherence to the newest political correctness, but they do worry about one of their own doing something shameful and the whole town knowing it. more incentive to act right. and because of that community bond, they are more likely to come together. especially for a come to jesus situation!!

We all get along because we all RESPECT each other. This song isn't"racist" it's mostly political. All he is saying is what is allowed by mainly liberal cities isn't allowed in mainly conservative small towns. I'M NOT POLITICAL. I DON'T CARE WHAT SIDE YOU CHOOSE!!!! This song just makes me think about how we don't act that way in a small town. We take care of each other no matter race. How my small town came together during covid to help each other find masks, hand sanitizer, toilet paper during the shortage still gets me a little emotional. We help each other during deaths, natural disasters, house fires etc. We protect each others businesses. Help each other find our missing pets that got out. We don't want riots or violence from anyone. Black, white, and hispanics are all packin' here.

@jocekhiy626 Both of those men died in a horrible way but also both happened at least 25 yrs ago. In my town, gay people walk around freely with their spouses and children. Interracial dating is common. My late ex husband was biracial. Most of us have known each other since childhood. My town is a good town. I work in a job that is ran by minorities. I'm only 1 of 3 white people. I love my coworkers and would do anything for them (Boss is Indian). My town is 22,000. We have white and minorities in the hood, white and minorities in the middle class neighborhoods, and white and minorities in the rich neighborhoods. Maybe my town is different. And when I say all races are packin' in this town, I mean it. None of us will tolerate Antifa or any destructive group that wants to come and hurt our businesses or us personally.

Just a couple things to also keep in mind. The courthouse used wasn’t selected by Jason Aldean, it was selected by the production company. Jason wrote the song, and hired a company to make the music video, he’s a musical artist not a director/producer. The courthouse is a popular filming area and has been used in multiple films. Yes he has the final say, but like you guys said, unless someone pointed that history out to you, you aren’t going to know that, especially if you aren’t thinking about it on a race level.
@wrafebeaver

Bloody, that is literally Jason's home county courthouse. Your right, creative vision has very little of the artist input most of the time. Plus, production doesn't alway check history on a building before using it. I personally didn't know about the past action until Candace Owen's posted a video including the facts.
