I'm surprised no one has said this yet, but those masks are not effective for yellow dust. You have to get ones that are specifically made for yellow dust. 황사마스크. They seal around your whole lower face. They have foam to seal the bridge of the nose and wrap all the way under your chin.
@eatyourkimchi13 жыл бұрын
@jungeuno You misunderstand us. These things are common in Korea and Asia. They are not common outside of Asia. Our audience is mostly outside of Asia, and so we want to show them the things we find here. Stop being so sensitive. We're trying to promote Korea, not hate it.

I always look at your videos in the suggestions area and I think "why would i would I spend 4 minutes (no pun intended) learning about Korean masks?" But I click on your videos anyway and it's SOOO worth it. And then I spend 3 hours watching your videos... Thank god you have so many of them lol. I love you guys!!!!!!!!!

@swatkdw First: We mention in this video that we also wear these masks. Second: We're not saying anything is wrong with wearing face masks, we're simple saying, "hey, this is super normal in Korea so don't be shocked if you visit/watch k-dramas and see this." Also I have to say, your comments show that you seem to be really angry and annoyed with Western people. Maybe you had a bad experience? Please don't judge every Western person as the same...and I'll remember that about rude Koreans too.

I seriously need to start wearing those things here....Where I live, we get huge lime green clouds of pollen. Like, I'll walk outside my dorm building and the steps and patio area will have a lime green coating from all the dust... On another note, my friend would LOVE that mask ^^

@jungeuno What's wrong with being weird? We think it's much better to be weird and different than normal and similar. Normal is boring; Weird is fun. People are interested by weird, intrigued by weird. If Korea was normal and boring to us we'd leave. We stay here and talk about the weird things because we like them. This is difficult to understand in Korea because conformity is important here. But conformity isn't special to us. We don't make fun of weird things; we celebrate them.
@AngelaM74511 жыл бұрын
you can pinch the clip on your nose, then it is all snug against your nose. when you breath trough your nose you should not feel the air escape beside your nose. this is a good way of testing it for leaks.

Yeah, it's been really dusty recently in Korea. I went out filming yesterday with my laptop out for about an hour. By the time I got home, the surface had a thin film of fine dust!

In middle east especially in Saudi Arabia we always have a dust storm and it's so bad I swear to the limit where we don't go out of the house , sometimes it continues to a whole day and alot of ppl get sick coz they don't wear masks. And now im talking with a dust storm out of the house T_T .

In asia there is a lot of those mask, there will always be a season in any asia country where they need it. In Korean and Japan they wear those mask a lot when it's cold season. Be careful with the yellow dust and rain season in Korea. Don't get sick.
@Avveh13 жыл бұрын
I actually have that kind of mask! The way you keep it clean and reusable is by washing them in the washing machine or handwash. :] They're quite helpful for when you have a cold or everyone else in your house has a cold....

The clip isn't a clip at all. Its a piece which is used to mold the mask so that it will better fit the nose.Example;if you have a slender pointy nose, you would pinch the metal portion (the so-called clip), so that none of the dust particles would get into the mask.
@htykim13 жыл бұрын
The metal piece on the top is so it conforms with your nose. just push it against the sides of your nose so it fits slug on the bridge.
@cinantya13 жыл бұрын
the tin/metal should be able to be shaped according to your nose shape. So the mask stays there. ^^ They have the same thing too in taiwan, but I guess the material is a bit different.

I don't really see them as weird since I wear it whenever I go out of my house when I'm at Viet Nam. Once you hit the streets, you're bound to meet some dust, especially if you're riding on motorcycles or bicycles, and its there to protect you...so really, its quite normal...

Actually, even though I live in America, elderly individuals will wear those (normal ones, I doubt we have "cute" ones :P) during spring when pollen is really high or something. And sometimes people wear them on a plane to avoid getting sick from recycled air in the cabin on long trips. ^_^ Oh yeah, and folks will wear them when they cut grass too.
@MissKpopJunkie13 жыл бұрын
No one here wears them! IT MAKES ME SAD!!! I had to wear ugly ones for my allergies when I went to visit my friend in Cali. I love these videos. I find it very interesting. what's wrong with some harmless fun? They're so many U.S. things I laugh it or think is weird, but I still watch/use/listen/perform (to) it. Doesn't mean I'm making fun of my own culture. What's wrong with laughing and enjoying things anymore? If someone is kindly poking fun, people call prejudice when they're worse prejudices that people actually accept. Can you say 'ninja'?? These are enjoyable videos from people who obviously love Korea.

I've noticed the mask use thing too in the US as well. You're supposed to use it whenever you've got a cold or something infectious, but I guess that's a reflection of some public health/hygiene issues with America considering people kind of just cough/sneeze/etc into the air, or their hands, or clothes and/or everywhere else. And nothing in America is as cute.. look at that gamster (lol) XD
