A conversation between 2 highly perceptive, thoughtful, and introspective guys. So interesting and cathartic to listen to. One of the best WTFs.

Thanks, Todd Hanson for sharing your experience. I used to have very deep depression and it's a rough road. It takes some real guts to share your experiences and your "failings'.In doing so you help others by letting them know that they are not alone in those feelings. Keep on keeping on.

I've listened to this a thousand times. I think Todd's an unbelievably cool dude with an amazing job. This is a feelgood story to me, it's comforting, and cathartic. Long live wtf.

Marc's singularly transcendental interview, thanks you Marc and more importantly thank you Todd Hanson. There are stories and then there are experiences worth sharing, this is one of the later.

If you knew Todd Hanson you would know this bullshit was made up to redeem his career. It’s curious that he did a Harvey Weinstein film and his ex girlfriend Jennifer Stein he was abusive to drown in the ocean. He’s a racist and misogynist asshole. I am pretty sure he and Maron came up with this together to redeem their asshole personalities.

I have some advice for ppl that have never been depressed. If you know someone suffering from it don't think you're going to talk them out of it w/ your sage advice such as, "snap out of it," or any of the other cliches. Don't give advice because it's useless. The only thing you can say that might matter is what Marc said to Todd. I love you. Say it often,mean it When you say it. You have no clue how much a depressed person beats themself up on a daily basis,your 2 cents isn't going to make a difference. Telling them their loved might though. Be there when they need to talk & listen without judgment or advice or lecturing. I don't care how smart you think you are,you're not smart enough. Just love them & tell them that you do. Kudos tho Marc for saying it to Todd.

Good talk. Can't be easy to open up like that. Actually made a difference to me today, so thank you both.

It’s easy for Todd Hanson because he’s a liar. He’s a narcissist who has used depression for attention. I have not bought shit hook line and sinker like some of the people in these comments since I was 13.

This is so, so important. I will share it with all that need. I love Todd's Moth story "Sloth" - that is what brought me here. Depression is a serious life-threatening disease. Another great book to read about it is "Undercurrents" by Martha Manning, a memoir of a therapist's experience with depression. Long story short, she ended up getting shock treatment (sounds drastic but it works). Difficult time in my life now, and I needed to hear this.

Beautiful. Thank you for being so open. Listening to this cast I thought I'm as obliterated and cracked as anyone sometimes.Treading water, gasping for air. But I doubt I'll ever grow tired of it. I find a sick joy in the process of surviving. I wish Todd that he finds something that will work for him, should the Abyss come calling again. Saw you on Conan, and wanted to ask: Daddy Issues, yay or nay for something serious? Educate a youngster just now getting sung to by Sirens. -Also a Todd

I booked a comedian in New York who stole material from Maron before he got very big and I will never forget that conversation. Our show paid 35 bucks and Maron was performing for free at the time. What a journey he has gone through,

For someone of the same, it was oddly cathartic just to listen to Todd's story (even years later). I don't know exactly how you feel Todd, but I have to think it's similar.

This was an amazing conversation. I can relate so well to what Todd Hanson has gone through. I don't know where he got the info that only 6 Xanax pills with alcohol would kill you. If it did, I would have died dozens of times already. I'm not saying it is safe - especially for someone with no tolerance, mixing depressants is always dangerous, so don't do it. Technically, someone could die from the bottle of whiskey alone already, so it's always POSSIBLE. At the same time, someone with tolerance can mix benzos, opioids and alcohol regularly without much effect. But someone who wants to die wants it to be certain, and saying 6 pills with alcohol is enough is just ridiculous. Maybe someone was giving wrong information on purpose so people wouldn't die, I don't know.
@pascalecake8 жыл бұрын
He said 60
@G_D_K8 жыл бұрын
He said 60, but he didn't say how much per pill. Actual brand name Xanax can go as high as 2mg per pill, or .25 per pill.
@taqu8 жыл бұрын
Oh, oops. English is not my first language, so 6 and 60 sounded pretty similar. I guess that is more realistic. If they were only 0.25mg or 0.5mg pills, then it was only 15 or 30mg in total, which is not much. But if they had 2mg, that's 120mg, which is a lot and definitely a bad idea but it's still no guarantee to kill you (I know people who have taken around 100mg, and just been out of it for a long time). Again, I know I'm focusing on an insignificant thing, I'm just weird like that. I'm glad he's alive!
