Soo let me get this straight: Clash royal "simplistic" like graphics slightly stylised: check Level based gameplay PvP that has clear lvl boost paywall in the gold thingy: check Overuse of the "w" word to appeal to nostalgia: check Overly excited presentation typical of mobile games add to artificially hype the game: check Basically reskin of other "unamed" game already existing:check And finally lack of any shame: would you look at that check I'll be honest I am against you playing this game for two major reason: First don't give their obvious corporate attempt at a cash/nostalgia grab a reason to continue on their doomed track by giving them what they want (aka another download on the store to justify this turd) boycott is one of the best way to show them at least what we don't want as they don't seem to liste to what we want And secondly to avoid it for your mental health as the more you'll play the more you'll feel like "this is what we have in store..." People have made life long friends, bonded with family, experienced things that were unique and limited in life span. There is a reason fans that are genuinely upset that the franchise they grew up with is going to the gutter (in one way or another), and I think that it's fine to express outrage or grief over that. Don't let it affect your real life, of course. I ain't gonna call up blizzard and cry about it, lmao, but still, this is what they killed Warcraft 3 for. Somebody else in the comments said they would be fine with these kinds of spin offs if we have a main IP or two to play, and I agree. But WoW's quality is quickly dipping (plus subscription model *shudder*) and I don't even need to mention Reforged, so. There's that one diablo thing that's coming out, I suppose, and Overwatch 2 is in beta, it's just not Warcraft. People seem to forget that Blizzard made quality games, Overwatch included, there's a reason people have high expectations of a triple A company.

I get it. The mobile market is really big in Asia and in general. As a corporation it makes sense to develop games like these. HOWEVER, after mangling the warcraft franchise with reforged and pretending it never happened I can't see myself downloading this game. I know that even if all of the classic warcraft/blizzard community would boycott this game it would be an big hit in Asia. But at least I can say that I don't support the course of modern blizzard/Activision in any form whatsoever.

I tried Clash Royale before, didn't liked the real time deployment dependency, because it's not like you open it to do a thing, when you wait for something. I feel like it'll attract some people who are desperate for anything Warcraft at this point, but it'll die a slow, painful death. If you want a precedent, look no further than Command and Conquer:Rivals. It garnered a playerbase for a while because shit, C&C fans were literally starving for anything, but it's slowly dying out, at least it was when I left it a couple years back. Games like this just don't have the staying power, especially when they tend to be p2w and grindy.

The game looks so much better than all the other clash clones and it makes sense since Blizzard are known to take a genre and just make a better version of it. The problem for us long time fans of Warcraft is that we know Reforged is unfinished and the RTS team(s) at Blizzard have been gone for years. We also still don't know if the WoW team can ship and a fun product after 2 bad expansions. If we had "mainline" games to play with and enjoy I would have no issue with spin-offs like this one, but right now seeing this just hurts.

The problem with this game isn't that I don't think it's a competently made game. This looks like a much more complex and varied gameplay levels compared to other "clash clones" on the mobile market and is in line with Blizzard tried and true way of doing things aka taking a known genre and making a better and more polished version of that particular genre. In fact this style of game is great fit for the Warcraft IP in general for the mobile space. The problem for Warcraft fans is that Reforged was a rushed dud, WoW fans have had two bad expansions in a row. Nobody but the most cynical PC gamers would have a problem with spin-offs IF we could get any decent "main games" in our favourite(s) franchise but it is not the case at this time and it sucks. We know we're not the main target audience for this game, and that wouldn't be so much an issue if we had other things in the pipeline, but we know they've gutted the RTS team years ago and there's nothing coming out anytime soon. Oh well...
