Preaching the way it needs to be. Our nation would be a whole lot better off if our Baptist preachers still preached like this! He is one of my hero's of the faith!

I don't think I have ever heard a so-called "Bible" preacher use as little Bible as he did. I have no idea what these people are Amening.

Sad to see such irreverence toward a Holy God. This man has been entrusted to proclaim God's Word yet he jokes about deer hunting and football. No wonder many don't take their faith serious.

Insecurity that needs to be affirmed constantly asks, Someone say amen.

He’s not insecure he’s making sure they agree with the Bible

Constantly asking “is everybody alright?” and demanding “amens” is definitely a sign of insecurity and the need for affirmation. It’s also a form of manipulation. By forcing the congregants to agree with what you’re saying even though it may not be biblical, you must agree with the man of God. He’s a bully and a manipulator. I have a feeling he could’ve preached a message from the newspaper and he would have received rousing amens from all. He certainly did not exegete the text. He used a phrase from the Bible to prop up his personal agenda.

@@Notworthy72 His dad used the same methods of saying "is everybody alright" and "it's preaching time". The IFB people put the "man of God" on huge pedestals and basically engage in hero worship. I'm an old school baptist preacher myself but I couldn't care less if people amen me or not. It doesn't make the message any more true or less true. If you go and listen to him a lot on youtube you'll see that he basically says the same anecdotes almost word for word in a lot of his "sermons". He also brags about how much people hate him. That's ridiculous. It's one thing to be persecuted for CHRIST but it's something else altogether to be hated for your sanctimonious attitude and arrogance. I've found that I can preach as hard as I can but do it in the spirit of love and Christ will be edified and the church will be enlightened and those that are truly in the faith will move to it and those that aren't will be exposed.

AngryVeteranNC I actually find it quite sad that Hutson has built his ministry on using the Bible to prop up his own unscriptural agendas. I grew up hearing preaching like this all of my life so I am no stranger to it in the least and this is not offensive. I just find it comical and sad at the same time that he doesn’t actually preach what the Bible has to say but instead his own idealized version of Christianity as do most fundamentalist. He’s no John the Baptist or OT prophet like he tends to portray himself. Pharisees like to uphold their traditions with all the zeal they can muster because that’s all they have going for themselves.
