It's nice to see a news cast from this time from the one and only TV-9. I know a lot of people who live in DC would appreciate this time gem.

Glenn Brenner, Maureen Bunyan, Mike Buchanan, Bruce Johnson - I can't get over how much they have changed in the last 39 years and yet they are always with us thanks to NewsActive3. Notice the VO by Casey Kasem (AKA Shaggy, BlueStreak, Cliffjumper). RIP Glenn Brenner.

Also have to give a RIP to Bob Strickland as well. Thank you again for the memories.

When I used to go to Wilson High School, WTOP was across the front door entrance of Wilson on a couple of occasions. After school, I met Maurin. She was very friendly. It is nice to see a flashback of good old memories. Back then, there wasn't a cell phone to take a selfie; I remember this very well. I was at the Bulket championship celebration and the motor gate in downtown DC.

Glenn Brenner was the best!!!! I always got the feeling George Michael over on WRC channel 4 was so jealous of Glenn’s popularity. Weenie of the week, Martina John Travolta. Glenn Brenner is the best to ever do sports in DC media.

This was shortly before Post-Newsweek had swapped this station for The Detroit News's WWJ-TV, and once The Detroit News began to take ownership of this station and change the call letters to WDVM-TV; Post-Newsweek would change the call letters of WWJ-TV to WDIV-TV once the swap of the television stations in both markets by both companies would be complete. Both companies swapped their television stations because they had feared that the FCC would impose a rule that a company can't own a Radio Station, a Television Station; and a Newspaper all in the same market. Thus, this swap had taken place in 1978; and that proposed rule by the FCC had never come into fruition.Had the FCC never considered imposing this rule, Post-Newsweek would continue to own this station to this day; and The Detroit News/Gannett would continue to own WWJ-TV/WDIV-TV to this day.

Wow...A nice flashback to my childhood. ..I watched the news everyday as a kid. ..I was 10 at this time and along with Maureen, I remember Glenn Brenner, Gordon Barnes the weather man, Bruce Johnson and The dignified Bob Strickland...Who's got it, Dart's has it made me laugh...the old commercials are priceless

I actually remember Gordon Barnes from his days with WCBS-TV (and Newsradio 88) in New York. His voice seemed to have some similarities to that of Milton Kamen, who ran Gramercy Park Clothes and delivered their long-running radio ads.

WOW - this is really a WTOP aircheck. I used to be an AD at WTOP in 1972-74 ( I think ). Maureen was there when I was there. Where is she now? It looks like they were still running film at that time. Thanks for posting this.

It's ironic that Wes Unseld said he never experienced anything like that before and he doesn't think they ever will again. Washington hasn't won a championship since. I remember my father and his friends partying after the championship title game. They had steaks, mash potatos and greens. Of course, the booze flowed, we got drunk as kids and got punished...lol!

Apologies to Bob Ferry but that was an incredibly flaccid draft. First two picks were much too Illinois-centric. Dick Versace-coached ballhog Phegley was a bust. Best seasons for Ray Meyer-coached Corzine were ahead of him with Spurs. Sowing the seeds of abject mediocrity which are still being harvested by that franchise.
