I still say her BEST role was Wei Yingluo in Story of Yanxi Palace. She was brilliant there. She is such a good actress and too bad her agency didn't give her more FL roles to play after that drama, but The Double is her comeback!

She had FL roles after that but those dramas after SOYP aren't good so it didn't get attention like SOYP. They said she also hadn't act in years so The Double is indeed her comeback to be very popular again ❤

I would say the storyline is a huge factor as well. I love her in Story of Yanxi Palace and still think that's her best work so far. I also watched Legend of Haolan, but it started to get messy especially at the ending where I felt the writers kind of ruined it. This show was great too!

I don't know if they still do it 😂, l've only started watching cdramas recently and when l came to interview was surprised the actors didn't have the deep voices as in the drama and then came to know that the voice actors do the dubbing the only actress l know who does her own dubbing in Qin lan, of course there are others too but l only noticed her and this is my first drama of jinyan

I used to watch Joe Chen's taiwanese dramas in the past. I didn't even notice she is also dubbed in The Double, to me her voice is not much different:). Thanks for shedding light on this :) I also just watch chinese drama recently too as nothing good in kdrama at the moment...:)

Yes, i learned that dubbing and even closed caption is necessary as there are so many diverse dialects in China that even though they are speaking Mandarin....if its not perfectly spoken with an official "dialect" then many will not understand it. So many actors have a more relaxed/slang speaking voice that would not be understood by many viewers. So dubbing was implemented to overcome this. A very minor example is like how I understand American English but when I watch British comedies, I need subtitles because I sometimes cant hear or understand what they are saying outloud.

Yes, I totally agree with you. The female lead clearly looks much older than the male lead (and less beautiful than all female supporting roles). So, I actually watched this whole drama just because of the plot and most actors and actresses’ acting. And just glanced at all romantic scenes between Ml and Fl cuz they aren't attracting for me at all...

@@laleleli Well, I don't care much who'll be the FL. Just prefer the more beautiful or at least much younger than Wu Jinyan (Cuz as I know, in the novel, FL is just around 19 years old!!! And Duke Su is around 24-year old, older than her). So, watching Wang Xingyue and Wu Jinyan in any romance scenes, for me, is like watching an aunt and a nephew flirting with each other 😑
