Nice review on an interesting light! How the extension tube lines-up (or doesn't) with the main flashlight body would bug me as well, and I agree that the price seems a bit steep for just the tube. That remote sensor is really neat, I don't recall ever seeing anything like that before and I can see how that would be useful when using the light in the head-strap. I'd probably just get the light and head-strap and call it a day.

I am pretty sure if you take a tiny dab of synthetic grease, I used Permatex High Performance Synthetic Grease, and apply it to all the threads of the light unit, the extension tube and the end cap, they will all index properly with each other. Mine was like yours at first, then after I applied the grease, I could easily index them to match all flats on all three components.

Looks a great light actually, I usually buy Olight but decided to get one of these too as love the design, feels like a red LED mode would also be useful as it’s similarly priced to the Oclip which is also a right angled clip light.
@eighty.22 ай бұрын
Glad you like the design! I’m a fan of the E7 too, especially for the price. Olight makes solid lights, but some of their products seem a bit overpriced for the output. The E7's 1800 lumens really stand out compared to the Oclip's 300, and at a lower cost. A red LED would definitely be a useful addition. If they could tweak it by swapping one of the LEDs for a red mode with a 1000-lumen max on the white, it’d be an even more perfect EDC light!
@M_E_T_R_O__92 ай бұрын
@@eighty.2 yeah the extra lumes are welcome! - i liked that Olight put the red LEDs in between the spaces of the white LEDs, like around the edges on the corners of the circles, seems this model could do something similar.

Is it possible to rotate the light past 45deg in the head mount? I want to mount the head mount flat on top of a helmet and still have the light facing forward if that makes sense....
@eighty.24 күн бұрын
No, I don't think so. There's a clip that restricts it to 45 degrees, and trying to modify or break it would likely make the flashlight less secure. It might be worth looking into other head mounts that allow for full rotation

@eighty.24 күн бұрын
@@AtheHD1 You're absolutely right-the pocket clip does get in the way when trying to insert the light rotated downward. Even if you remove it, the mount won't be as secure. Maybe the 45 degrees of rotation is enough. Out of curiosity, what kind of helmet are you mounting it on? I used to do a lot of night mountain biking, and I found helmet-mounted lights to be the best option for keeping the trail well-lit.

For combination of E7 + head strap + battery extension + 18650 battery for $45 (including shipment) do you think this set still worth ? Or theres something more worthy within that price for long use hiking ?
@eighty.224 күн бұрын
Which country? The E7 is great for its compact and lightweight design, making it versatile as both a flashlight and a headlamp. However, if you’re looking for something dedicated solely for long hiking trips, a proper headlamp might be more comfortable and practical.
