I think I "ruptured" my Achilles' tendon doing this routine, it's had a bulge and pain for about six months. Internet says total rest for at least two weeks, I haven't been able to give up my exercising to try that. I know, "Use at your risk". If Oriental science is "slow, slow" versus Occidental "hurry, hurry", it can damage as well as build up. Those deep crouches apparently took their toll. I just turned around one day and I had this bulge in my heel.

Greetings, i have a question, which Qi Gong is this? Thanks a lot for the nice videos!

This practice is exclusively known by Zhong Yunlong. I wouldn't say its a Qi Gong form since it is way too short. But he does elemental stances and combines them with breathing.

Standing still is not as easy as it might sound.

I would think, speaking of terminological clarity, that fascism is philosophically opposed to philosophy. Fascism is the organized attack on philosophy. As Groucho Marx said, "Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?" Maybe that's your point, Sifu. "In all honesty, " heh, heh? "I'm from the government, I'm here to help you, you can trust me."

As the politician might finally say, "now to get to your question," I've been doing this routine for about four or five months, on top of two other, let me call them, limbering up routines, one by Zhong, one by a man on Taiwan, and in that time I've also developed a swollen and tender Achilles' tendon on my left foot, after forty years of jogging, a new wrinkle. I used to do a 24-pose tai ji quan routine but similarly broke down by overusing some tendon or ligament, crippling myself for a while. "Let your pain be your guide," seems a good rule for "playing hurt" since you're trying to build yourself up, not break yourself down. I'm persisting with the three limbering up videos and my normal jogging and walking routine, about a marathon a week in mileage, at age 65. I tell myself, "feel your way." So I think you can learn from my first response: learning to stand still is quite an achievement. "Exercise" is controlled over-use of tissues and the only control device we have is whether it feels good. If, say, I hurt my Achilles' tendon by not being careful because my mind was on world events, which is about my theory, I realize, then the cure is not to abandon the limbering up or the work-outs but to do them more carefully. So what you see in Zhong's routine here, if you compare it with what you can see of him online in various videos from over the years, is someone teaching you how to stand still, to wave your arms, to hold a crouch, all without hurting yourself. A David Bowie line seems to fit: "Looks a lot like Che Guevara, drives his body like a truck." The point here is to be your body, not be outside it looking in. When you try the latter, your mind is already wandering and you're hurting yourself. Thanks for the challenge.
