@paishandian if u listen close you will hear a spring like sound after some of his really powerful movements , this sound is produced from a light but large saber similar to the much smaller Wushu broadsword. The make of these swords is thicker at the base and thin at the tip for whip like actions and to increase the damage done by slashing motions. Although you are right that this is a sport or competition form this style can be adapted to a more effective combat form.
