40:37 I'm a big fan of both Ramayana and Xiyouji ( The Journey to the West or The Monkey King. ) I think Wu Cheng'en, a Chinese scholar in Ming Dynasty (1500s) the author of Sun Wukong, would like to create a character similar to Lord Hanuman in style of Buddhism and Taoism for Chinese kids to study wisdom easily because Chinese kids were more familiar with Buddhism and Taoism than Hinduism. And Sun Wukong story in the Journey to the West novel is not same like Lord Hanuman in Ramayana book. It seems : -Sun Wukong represents also Maharishi Valmiki because at the beginning he was buried under a mountain, similar to Valmiki under a termite mound. -Sun Wukong represents partially of Lord Shiva. In Xiyouji Novel, he wears tiger skin.His pose in the book looks similar to Nataraj with a stick. And his master, Tang Xuanzang monk, in real life went to Nalanda University to study Yogachar. So something related to Yoga and Yogis. -Sun Wukong in Xiyouji book represents Dvesha, Tang monk represents Moha, Pig brother represents Raga, and the other two represent Lobha. Sun Wukong problems were extreme anger and pride management. That I think he is not similar to Lord Hanuman. -The Xiyouji novel represents Mahayana Buddhism instead of Hindu gods. Throughout books there is always mentioned the Heart Sutra, fearlessness, different enemy patterns, transformation, 7 moods and 6 forms. etc. These are all I can recall for now. There is English translation of the book. But it's like out from google translation. I hope there will be in future someone who really know insights of Taoism, Buddhism, Lord Hanuman and also talented at English composition, literature and poem writings, to rewrite the English version more beautiful and more careful in interpretation.
