I've watched the moment that the situation reversed itself a few times now.... and i still have no idea what happened. My game sense is telling that it's probably something specific to this version of tetris and that's about it.

Here's what I think happened: Wumbo managed to get a high enough combo that cleared the garbage sent to them by Badgoblin, then using that same combo guage, Wumbo sends massive amounts of garbage to their opponent and Badgoblin couldn't keep up. In other words, a bigger combo means faster garbage clearing and more garbage sending

The game counts twists/spins with any piece, not just T Spins. Wumbo abuses that to get B2B spins which send 300+ per line instead of the 20 per line you get from just the combo. Doesn't matter how much faster you're playing when you need 10-20 lines to counter one line clear

It was the length of the line clear combo that acted as a defense and attack. The opponent focused on fast clears but sometimes breaks the combo in an attempt to pressure. Once Wumbo gets multiples in combo over someone else, there's a greater gain in removing their attack potency and the attack being delivered. While that attack is looming, any non-clear results in garbage adding in.
