Great review, but I have to say your rating method doesn't make sense. 3/5 means it's good? Ratings should be based on what you're rating. If it's production lights, then rate it against a production lights not against custom lights. That's like you're reviewing cars, but you're comparing Camry to Ferrari and by that standard all Camry's are a 3.

I added a bit of silicone tubing to the back end. It is now easy to cigar hold and good for biting for hands free. It is now one of my favorite EDC lights. Also, the aux lights on high drain the battery quite fast. It was consistently dead after only about 1 week in my pocket. I have turned them off for now. I will test on low and see how long it lasts. EDIT: Aux on low seem to work fine. I have them OFF when the light is locked though.

Because the code used was mainly for the button light and not aux lights. So its behavior is exactly the same with my other Anduril flashlight with a button light. We just need to flash an updated firmware. You quickly get used to it. Still a great light. My buggy FWAA was back in the box since i started using the TS10

What takes these 14500 lights to the next level is the acquisition of type-c rechargeable 14500 cell like the ones from Lumintop, Manker, Acebeam. Then your light becomes independent from bay chargers or pretty much any power supply cause the type-c cable is universal and you can even find it available anywhere across the world

Love the form factor of these 14500 Tri-TIR Anduril 2 lights. I was so pleasantly surprised by my 4000k Wurkkos TS10 that I ended up pulling the trigger on a custom FWaa in Titanium/Copper swapped with Nichia 519a 5700k dedomed emitters. Needless to say, hearing about the button issues is quite disheartening. Hoping the Titanium cooperates better with the button :) thanks for the videos!

@@maxlvledc I haven't got round to trying Reylight yet. Want to get a copper pineapple sometime. Anduril and Anduril 2 are the only customizable firmware I've tried. Only issue I've had with Anduril (maybe just Anduril 2?) is: 4 clicks to lock, 5 clicks to momentary mode (which I can only seem to escape by disconnecting the cell) I haven't tried it, but I do believe you can customize "simple mode" and shut off most of the features. Personally, I'd like to rewrite it slightly (change order of some modes and such)

Got mine a couple of days back. Quite disappointed. Did come with a charging cable, charger, and 14500 battery, and the light of course; for only $16.oo Only reason why I'm not more disappointed. U.I. is far too complicated. Auxiliary lights never switch off unless I loosen the bezel a bit. Red Aux. lights only stay on in the lowest setting. Unless I click the tailcap 4 times from off. Then it blinks full setting red at me. No way to make it steady. I see it this way.... For $16.oo I ended up with a charging cable (could always use extras), a surprisingly good basic charger, and a 14500 battery. Not bad at all. But my first Wurrkos is a disappointment.

Well I learned the other day that Sofrin is releasing or may have already released an new 21700 Sofrin SP35T (Tactical) flashlight with the tactical tail switch. Hope you and other will get one for review... I'm quite excited over this news and if it's as good as the original SP 35 and with a tail switch, I'll be picking one up, and I'll give the SP35 to someone. Could be the very best value for a High Performance 21700 tactical flashlight... ?

Greetings, and excellent review. I just ordered one of these in the color green with the 4000K emitter. I’m a big fan of the Vapcell H10 batteries. I noted you are using one in this light while doing the review. Does the light handle these and all IMR 14500 cells, and does Wurkkos recommend them… and is the battery supplied an IMR? I’ve never had any issues using the Vapcell H10 in my other 14500 light, including my Sofirn SP10V3, Olight S1A, Acebeam Rider RX (version 1 & 2) and others. Hope they can be used in this light. I rate this review 2 stars! A flashlight review without night time beam shots is kinda lacking! Also, it would be nice to know runtime vs lumens if the UI is set up to use steps. Also, when the 1400 lumens ramps down from turbo to high due to heat, what lumen level does it ramp down to, and for how long? Does it then ramp a second time from high? Also, does the light need unprotected cells, protected cells, high drain, etc. Would be good to know. You spent a good amount of time talking about pocket clips (which many people don't use), but left out a good many things important to potential purchasers.

I just want to state right up front that I like your reviews of flashlights very much. You're far more knowledgeable about FL than I am (I am a very casual flashaholic), but after hearing yet another review where you tell us that Anduril is great, I have to object. Here's what I don't like about Anduril in a nutshell - I HATE the click-hold interface. I MUCH prefer a simpler click interface. What I mean is that even in the the Simple UI, as far as I can see, if you want to STEP from one brightness level to another, you have to click the main button and HOLD it till it advances to the next level. If you just click it, it turns the damn FL off. So, in other words, turning the FL off gets the easiest button option there can possibly be (yes, I know that it's important to be able to turn it off, but should it that operation hijack it from every other possible thing the FL does!?!) I MUCH prefer the Fenix standard interface where a simple click advances to the next brightness level. I think it is VERY telling that when they simplified the Sofirm SC31 Pro (which has Anduril) and introduced the SC31T with a more simple UI, it is just like a Fenix UI - a click advances the brightness. Every time you praise the Anduril UI and how flexible it is, I think to myself, "Well why can't a get it to use a simple click UI??" I kind of figured that maybe it's because Anduril relies on a ramping UI, which obviously requires a click-hold to do its thing. So if you try to convert such a FL into a stepped UI, maybe it still has to use the click-hold thing because that's how the button works. But the SC31T has both ramping and simple one-click stepping, so that can't be why. So IMHO, Anduril 3 should definitely include the ability to use a simple click in a way other than turning the FL off (hey, here's an idea - how about a long hold for that!). Until that happens, I stay away from Anduril FLs (and my SC31Pro stays in the drawer). I'd be interested to know what you think about this (or even more interested if you know how to customize Anduril 2 to give me the simple click UI I want! 😉 ) ,
@ctrlthecontroller
@ctrlthecontroller Жыл бұрын
There is a saying for Anduril, one either love it or hate it 😂 It's good that they release different version to cater to different people. For the click vs click hold thing, I am totally opposite from you 😂, I avoid most e-switch light with a click to cycle, hold to off UI. I personally prefer to have instant on/off and backwards modes (going to lower brightness without cycling through higher modes) so UI like Anduril and Crescendo (for mechanical tailswitch) is a godsend for me. For Anduril, I think the click vs hold thing is more of a design choice than technical limitation. It would be awesome if future versions has to option to choose click vs hold! (I wonder if the current MCU has enough space to hold the firmware lol.)
@RAH1861
@RAH1861 Жыл бұрын
@@ctrlthecontroller I have now gotten a little more used to the click-hold method of advancing the brightness levels, so I don't find it quite so objectionable now. I finally realized that, at least for me or probably anyone used to the click UI, if you click-hold-release for each level boost, one at a time, it is quite a lot like the click UI. I mean if you want to go up say 2 levels, don't hold it and try to time your release after it has gone up the 2 levels; just click-hold-release twice and it is very similar to the regular click UI. So I can now handle either type and it's fine. Oddly enough I got used to the click-hold method from using about the cheapest higher-powered flashlight around - the Wurkkos WK03. What a great little flashlight!! LOVE its UI - no turbo or moon-mode in the regular sequence, but easy availability of those 2 modes when you want them (just wish you could access moon from when the flashlight is ON, but OK, it's not bad the way it is). I agree that it's just an apparent lack of the feature that prevents Anduril 2 from allowing the user to change to a simple click UI, and not a technical limitation of the hardware. Seems like an odd omission; I mean, there must be some 47-fast clicks combination they could use to enable a simple click UI! I am wondering why there are no commonly available flashlights that you can hook a computer or tablet to and change the UI that way. This multiple-click method is really awkward, IMHO. I realize that the programmers who program these UIs must have a method (probably a simulation on a screen and then an upload/burn thing), but why not just a connection to a tablet for regular folks? They already have cable connections.
@ctrlthecontroller
@ctrlthecontroller Жыл бұрын
@@RAH1861 Eventually Anduril will get to 47 fast clicks lol. For programming the UI, actually quite a number of lights have this function. Some lights have flashing pads that you can access without taking the light apart, some require you to do so. Actually it's possible to program lights with a USB cable and a PC. The USB end plugs into the PC, the other end is a specially shaped clip/ pin array that connects to the light. I don't have much experience in flashing UI, but I have succeeded in customizing and flashling several different UIs into Attiny 13As (mostly found in 7135 style drivers). I think the reason they let users "program" the light with the click/ hold thing is ease of use. It may sound counterintuitive to do a bunch of complicated click and hold combinations just to change a few settings. But I think for many people it's much easier than buying a specialized connector for each light, finding the software code, painstakingly modifying the code and then flash it. Plus, the harder it is to get to the config modes, the less likely a mis-change of config happens (an example of easy mis-change will be the Convoy 3/5 mode drivers).
@RAH1861
@RAH1861 Жыл бұрын
@@ctrlthecontroller Thanks for the info. I was a programmer for 30 years, so I guess this stuff seems easy to me, so I wonder why they don't make it available for regular folks, but yeah, maybe the click interface is more mainstream and not so scary. Color me skeptical, but I've got serous concerns about durability and/or lifespan of this product. I've worked with elec/comp most of my life. With the programmability, there's a micro-controller in there as well as a heat sensor and other fragile elec. components that will get damaged from shock and extreme cold or hot temps. From Workkos TS10 web page - "Constant reactivation of turbo mode can easily cause the flashlight to EXCEED safe operating temperatures." For example, let's say you keep the light in your car or garage during near or below freezing temps then you use the turbo mode which will crank the heat up very quick. How many times can this be done before that temp. stress damages some elec. component? It's also not uncommon, for it to be above 90 deg F after sundown and then you use turbo mode. In the 21st century, it's not such a feat to jam a bunch of cheap elec/tech into a cheap flashlight. I couldn't even find an operating manual on the Wurkoss website. In your words, "TOTAL FAIL!" Not interested.

@@maxlvledc I wear dickies brand shorts/pants so I genuinely forget it’s in there. I just use a standard leather belt. Been fine so far.
