I think it's worth clarifying why I don't recommend the TS23, since I'm getting a few messages about giving the SC33 a positive review when it does the same thing. I also disliked the SC33 stepping down so quickly from turbo, but I'm more interested in the sustainable output on that model since I'd use it more for walking and general use. I own a flashlight hunting store (Wurkkos dealer also) and I had my sights set on the TS23 for the use of hunting, for this use the range is super important on turbo and for it to hold that range for as long as possible. Instead of getting 60 seconds or so at 470+ meters, it loses 115m within 30 seconds. I was really hoping this would be another Sofirn C8L with a wider beam, that model holds over 2400 (turbo) for 4 minutes, then 1500 for 5 minutes before reducing and sustaining 1000. The C8L will hold 2000 lumens in cool temperatures since the brightness is controlled thermally, the TS23 is controlled by timers and will perform the same regardless of the outside temp. If you only need 2,600 lumens at 358m range, then you'll be happy with it. It really just depends on every individuals requirements.

I thinks a screamer of a all purpose light. It’s cheaper than the ts23 also. The trade off are, anduril 1, no pocket clip (26 sized body), and doesent run high cri. Other than that I love it. As for throttling. The 26800 would throttle slower than the 21700 but the 21700 has better performance.. I’d say for a standard do it all light, it’s banger.. minus the lack of pocket clip. Edit: forgot to throw some number. 26800 is 605m tested and the 21700 is 675. The beam has a sbt 90 type pattern, but burns slower than that monster lol. Lumens was measured with the 21700 at 5880. No records for the 26800.

I agree. The chart is the basis. It's strange that few people test Nitecore flashlights when it comes to charts. Maybe it's because Nitecore gives flashlights as gifts😂😂😂
@jackblock74518 ай бұрын
As for ANSI, many flashlights are not compatible, for example one of the Nitecore flashlights has turbo 10s. But many companies also use this standard for marketing purposes. For example, I came across a 320lm (3xAAA) flashlight where the manufacturer states that the operating time is 5.5 hours. To someone familiar with the topic, it already seems funny. And in practice it looked like this: the standard says from 30 seconds to 10% of power. So after a minute, the power started to drop for about 15 minutes to a level of about 70lm and continued to around 5 hours and this is the "magic" in the form of "in 320lm mode it lights up for 5.5 hours" lol

Thanks for the additional info. No wonder my TS23 starts out as white with a touch of warmth but goes to extremely cool white as the output increases! 😐 I wish Wurkkos/Sofirn would stick to a standard nomenclature for its LED emitters, giving the color temperature a range (like 5000-6000K) instead of specifying just one color temp. "5000K" or "6500K" alone doesn't tell much; we won't know in advance if the color temperature is at the lowest or highest output. All this while I had assumed that the specified tint is uniform across the emitter's power output, but that isn't the case!

As usually, you're review was extremely enLIGHTening! I was looking forward to your review of the TS23 with much enthusiasm. Before your review, I felt this might be my ultimate EDC light but after you pointed out those timed step downs, my enthusiasm for this light also stepped down. If Wurkkos can replace the timed step down with a thermal step down and offer a XHP70.3 HI 5000K CRI70 version emitter, I'd be all over this flashlight. To date my favorite EDC that offers the best combination of price, brightness, tint, runtime and portability is the Convoy M21B with a XHP70.3 HI 5000K CRI70 emitter. There's no built-in charging port, which isn't a big deal for me, since I charge my batteries with an external charger, and the design is plain vanilla, but this light is a real performer. Thanks once more Jacob for contributing great info into the data bank of 21st century flashlight knowledge!

The TS23 does have a thermal step down and this is confirmed by the Wurrkos marketing person on KZbin. It also has an USB-C charging port and it's located near the tail switch, not on the middle tube or reflector housing. This flashlight is based on the (discontinued?) Aplos T03 but I don't know if the TS23 is a direct "copy & paste job" or whether Wurkkos had further tweaked the T03 before rebranding it as the TS23. Maybe there will be additional emitter choices in the near future, like the 5000K version of the XHP70D. 🙂

If it's a protected cell the extra length won't fit. Convoy, Sofirn, and Wurrkos are designed to be used with unprotected cells. You don't need protected cells when flashlights have their own protection.

It's a pity that the color temperature is only 6500. With a warmer light (3000K) or at least 5000K, a flashlight would be more interesting. 6500 is not the best option for working in nature (forest, steppe...) or in conditions of suspension in the air (dust, fog, rain, smoke ...).

what do you mean by Ansi not used to turbo???
@PiercingTheDarkness7 ай бұрын
Hi, if you look at the top of the screen at 0:46 where I'm showing my measurements, you'll see a note that says "ANSI = Measurement at 30 Seconds". If a manufacturer states that their specs were measured using the ANSI FL1 Standard, this means that they switched on the flashlight and waited for 30 seconds before recording the lumens and range. You can clearly see that they recorded turbo the second that turbo was switched on, and not at the 30 seconds. This is not a 5000 lumen flashlight as advertised under the ANSI FL1 Standard. According to my measurements it's only a 2700 lumen flashlight.

Small flashlights with a power of 3000-5000lm usually have maximum power from several dozen seconds to a few minutes and even drop to 1500-800lm. Acebeam p17, which costs three times as much, maintains about 1000lm. According to the standard, the maximum is about 4000LM and it also drops quickly. You can see tests for 1lumen or zeroair.
