I seem to be the only person who thinks this scene is an Oscar worthy performance by Juliette Binoche. It's noteworthy that Janet McTeer, seen here as Nellie, actually was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in 1999 and Best Suppporting Actress in 2011.

This is an excellent portrayal of Cathy. Juliette captures how young and innocent she is and naïve as well in the scene. But also that she knows what she’s doing is for selfish superficial reasons, but doesn’t seem to be able to stop herself.
