The best version of this classic novel. Timothy Dalton is mesmerizingly handsome in the rugged and haunting background. Michel Legrand's music is perfect and beautiful; blends well with the scenery and their obvious love for each other. One of the greatest love stories that will sweep you off your feet.

What a wonderful tribute to this timeless story and its haunting realization in this passionately and perfectly acted film. Other actors may play Heathcliff and Cathy; but Timothy Dalton and Anna Calder-Marshall became Heathcliff and Cathy, exactly as Emily Bronte describes them. I doubt their performances will ever be matched. It's actually eerie how perfectly Timothy Dalton matches Bronte's description of Heathcliff; the man was clearly born to play this role. As for Michel Legrand's music, his haunting, passionate, wildly

The ending of this movie tore my heart out of my chest when I first saw it and the music is still haunting after all of these decades.

I have loved this movie over 20 decades as a young teen the same summer I first read the Wuthering Heights book in June and then rented this movie on July same year. That is why Timothy Dalton has almost always been Heathcliff to me. When I found the movie few weeks later and after that Timothy Dalton has been Heatchliff to me when I read Wuthering Heights. Almost from the start. I loved this video and haven't seen the words before. Thanks ❤

The score is so intense and beautiful. It's definitely the best score I've heard for a Wuthering Heights adaptation yet.

Absolutely beautiful! I've never heard the words to this song before...how perfect! Timothy was breathtakingly gorgeous & young in this movie - those green eyes......I'm speechless. What a wonderful job on this video - thanks!

In my opinion of all the Wuthering Heights versions Timothy Dalton is the best Heathcliff.Dark, handsome & passionate.

I finally got to see this movie recently! It might just be my favorite version despite the rough edges. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Dalton and Calder-Marshall, but the music helped make the movie big time for me. It's so lovely that it breaks my heart.

Yes, you are correct: he was at his most beautiful as Mr. Rochester...still young enough but with that masculine maturity as well...just perfect.

This score is as stunning as its costars, and the lyrics - sublime! How was it that Timothy Dalton was not nominated for this role? He is AMAZING! Thank you so much for posting!!!

Essas estoria pode ser forte, tétrica, violenta sim, mas convenhamos que Cathy e Heathcliff eram realmente um só. No final eles ficaram juntos.

From the 30s to the 70s what great films in a quiet, Anglo dominant, lawful, unclutterd America and Britain; these films had depth and one could focus on that depth; now with so much clutter and chaos hard to appreciate fine, deep, themes and believe in them. Saw this in my teens when it came out, also Jane Eyre with George Scott and Susannah York---what movies and love stories, very believable. Now, things are over the top.

I love Timothy Dalton but Laurence Olivier was mesmerizingly handsome , too , so the 1939 version Is excellent as well as Merle Oberon was so beautiful and David Niven was excellent. Flora Robson and Geraldine Fitzgerald were wonderful and also Leo G Carroll and Donald Crisp . It's a wonderful movie

Poignant and haunting video, it captures the film perfectly. I agree with LV7 about his soundtracks. We love the Beautician & the Beast and TLD soundtracks also. I watched the 1930's WH recently. Olivier is very good but doesn't capture what Dalton does. His transformation from gawky misfit to gentleman is not as dramatic or compelling. The film does follow the book more closely. Dalton is almost palpable through the screen, his emotions are so intense !!!

Thank you! :) I love TLD soundtrack as well. Mary Queen of Scots also has a great soundtrack by John Barry. I agree about the 1939 version. It was good but obviously a Hollywood film. I miss the proper locations and accents. Also Dalton is the only actor who actually looks like Heathcliff I'd imagine from the book. Too bad he didn't get to play the older Heathcliff, when the character really develops. Love your nickname btw. LOL :D

I never watched Mary, Queen of Scots because I couldn't stand the stills of Dalton with blond hair. But, I love John Barry. So much so that I now have several Bond soundtracks.
@GoGreen19775 жыл бұрын
You have to see that movie. Glenda Jackson is once again Elizabeth I and nails it. I prefer her portrayal in the movie over her portrayal in the TV series (Elizabeth R), but she's excellent in both. And I think you can deal with a blond Mr. Dalton. He's a nasty character in "Mary, Queen of Scots", so it's best he doesn't look himself. Btw, there's a handsome Robert Dudley in the film, too. Much more like what I expect his character to be than how he was portrayed in the TV series.

@@GoGreen1977 If they had left his intense eyebrows alone and not bleached them out...I still need to watch that movie too. My bucket list is to watch everything he's done (at least once!😂). I had to fast forward a lot for lion in winter. Too much kate hepburn emoting. He looks amazing. That movie was everywhere on American tv when I was a kid in the 60s. Kind of surprised he plays a gay guy! I guess the censors didn't notice?
