The WVU Industrial Extension has been awarded $400,000 to participate in a national effort aimed at making the country’s domestic supply chains more resilient and efficient. The WVU Industrial Extension, along with colleagues from across the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) are focusing on two specific tasks:
First, the creation of a database called the national Supply Chain Optimization and Intelligence Network (SCOIN). This database will include a comprehensive end-to-end mapping of the nation’s supply chain. Not only has this never been done before, but it is also crucial for the domestic manufacturing industry and resiliency.
Second, this initiative will focus on a program called Supplier Scouting. Supplier Scouting services will assist with efforts to on-shore and re-shore manufacturing by identifying and establishing new service offerings and filling gaps in the supply chain by connecting original equipment manufacturers with small and medium-sized manufacturers.
