Little German lesson „Bajonett” is a blade you can attach to ur muzzle without a grip „Seitengewehr” is a knife, or saber with a grip (and usually an edge) u can fix to your muzzle or hold in your hand. Also: Erfurt is a city. Not a manufacturer

I have several variations of this, including a first pattern sawback. In 1974, I bought one in mint condition, with Chilean markings.

Love that. I own one and bought it because of that reason. I agree with you on all this bayonets failures and appreciate your honesty. We collect because we like. Good job.

I actually just bought an a.A model that's missing the grip(s). I didn't realize there were different variants of the quillback and only looked it up when I noticed the handle shape was different than my 98/05's.

There are all steel scabbards for these, they're war time production.

Another problem with these is the scabbard breaking when the soldier knelt.

Looks long enough to poke somebody without having to step into the poison gas. LOL.

If you have one of these with a prominent serial number on the crossguard and frog stud and a coat of arms on the pommel below the mortice slot, then you have a Peruvian modelo 1909.

Hey for a suggestion about a bayonet acquisition / video, I have what I believe is to be a Mexican Rolling Block bayonet. Missing the button but has initials carved into the grips. It's a cool bayonet and took a while for me to figure out what it was. I can imagine how hard they are to come by where you are located, but it'd be a cool video I'm sure!

They do pop up every now and then, I actually just missed one on ebay about a month ago
