Mate I love this channel, videos are so well put together and informative. Such a shame the algorithm doesn't do you justice. BTW what pattern of jacket are you wearing in this video? Was it still in use in 1914?

Thanks, the channel is growing, but very slowly! For this video I was wearing the 1902 pattern officer's service dress. Although it was replaced by an open collar version in 1912, officers weren't required to buy the new pattern until the old one was worn out, and so several officers of the battalion I portray (1st Black Watch) were still wearing them in 1914.

The trauma for soldiers that were just walking after the war and a kid just blows a whistle, it’s crazy how we look at certain aspects of before and after we’ve been knowing the meaning a item as fun before, and horrifying after. ):
