why does machine gun fire and distant explosions calm me, i have PTSD but silence makes me a nervous wreck..this..i can sleep to it
@ELUSIVEJIM Жыл бұрын
Exactly the same mate. CPTSD and this is the only thing that helps me sleep. The state the following Also known as “rest and digest,” is dopamine response can aid in flooding your brain with this addictively calming hormone, while also helping you to feel better after this scary experience. Many people feel better after watching a horror movie so I presume this is the same.

This is due to the fact that PTSD is looking for a situation that is "normal" for this phenomenon, or a situation that can be understood. In the first case, it's really a dopamine reaction (you've been through it - you're good, you're considered a hero; but in ordinary life you're nobody), and in the second case, it's fear. Explaining the second option, when the brain finds itself in silence, it begins to ask itself uncomfortable questions (which it usually does not ask because there is no time), and, even more often, it begins to be afraid of losing control. And it is precisely with the fear of losing false control (because in fact there is no control, for example, a meteorite will fall regardless of us) that hallucinations that come in this state are associated - rustles, silhouettes in seemingly pitch darkness, "movement" at the edges of the visible area - the brain tries to come up with something that it does not see and does not He understands. And in this case, it will be easier for the brain to be in a potentially dangerous situation (sounds from the war) than in absolute silence, because it can understand this situation, but it is afraid to understand and accept silence.

This must be sort of what the Belgian folks saw and heard during the Battle of the Bulge 78 years ago.

Interestingly, I watched this video on February 16, 2022, literally a week before the start of the war in Ukraine. I used to be interested in military history and loved to watch war films until I caught the war myself. At the end of February and in March I heard a lot of explosions, and then I heard them more and more often. I understand why some people did not like to talk about the war. It's really hard to talk about. Now I'm watching this video one more time, and perceive it differently than February 16, 2022.

Yes I have to admit I did consider removing this video when the war started. I certainly won't be doing any more war videos for a while.
@lesyakras139 Жыл бұрын
@@audiozoic On the contrary, I am against the removal of such videos. Your videos are very cinematic and remind me of my favorite war movies. Right now it's very relevant. I love your channel and have been watching it for several years.)))
