@@WW2TV Are what ifs frowned upon? If not, here's one: What if there were no Waffen SS units. Let's say all units were straight Wehrmacht. Would the Eastern Front have been more "civil". Yes, I know, a strange word when it comes to war.

@billyshakespeare17 what ifs are fine. I think if the SS hadn't existed, the same psychopaths would have found a home elsewhere in the Reich

As always, Pritt packs in a great deal of history into one hour! Sadly I was at work during the live broadcast, but am happy to have seen this later. I really got the impression that no matter how one may admire the prowess of the German Army, that they were really reaping what they had sown by this stage. It's very hard for me to feel sympathy for Germany at this stage of the war. Thanks for a detailed look at this campaign.

Its nice to see Germans having a lot of foot/horse drawn units being mentioned. Once Soviets get whole jeep and studebaker package from lend-lease, they have mobility advantage they ruthlesely exploit in their breakouts.

There have been some German armored vehicles pulled out of rivers in the area, evidently lost in the retreat, either by ice breaking under them or intentionally sunk.

Dear WW2 TV. I have from the Churchill Archive (UK) the reference number for the correspondence of the telegram exchange between Churchill and Stalin regarding the early opening of the Vistula offensive. This is found in the Telegrams tab of the UK archive: CHAR 20/211/10 This telegram thanks in relation to the 6ths of January request. Note the date difference (11 days). It took about ten days to prepare the action, the comments about developments in Ardennes after 6th January, with crisis being resolved, need to be borne in mind. Can you please forward this refence number to the speaker as an erratum?

I'm sure "Prit" is just short for"outstanding PRITsentation". Just one little thing (15mm in fact): that was most likely an SU-100 in the photo (the cupola "bulging" out the side armor), not an SU-85. Gotcha ! 🙂
