Own both games! All stars feel like a wrestling version of a fighting game, is super fun, and is really awesome... Battlegrounds I much more of an arcade wrestler, wayyyy bigger roster, and really fun in its own way. I love both games and prefer not to try to compare them because they feel like they are separate game genres.

All Stars all the way. Battlegrounds I like some additions like the front flip on the Boom Drop and Skull Crushing Finale but the animation feels lazy, weak and rather inaccurate to the move. Jake’s DDT is more of a Butterfly DDT and the Cobra Clutch barely even lasts. He just gets into it and throws the opponent like he can’t be bothered. The sell is a lot better in All Stars as well.

There's no excuses, hell the likes of Aleister Black don't even have their finishers in the game while Allstars had much more flashy and designed animations and on top of the roster having 4 sigs (which may be excessive even without BGs roster size) and finisher. Then there's the general moveset that are too copy and paste from talent to talent. The game has a lot of fun pros but also too many blatant cons.

I personally think the transitions into the specials r more smoothly pulled off in Battlegrounds. However, All Stars has the cooler animations to me personally. Battlegrounds truly feels like a watered-down version of All Stars. All Stars gameplay was a blast and I always thought it was an underrated game. They could have just gone for a sequel to All Stars as everything was better back then: animations, character design (wrestlers in Battlegrounds are awful), content, selling, impact, "lack of gravity", etc. Hell, you can't even land a spear/rko/trouble in paradise/etc. out of nowhere anymore, like you could in All Stars, and it was one of the funniest feature of the game

All Stars definitely has more impact, but I'm kinda feeling Battlegrounds midget-style models more, because the overly muscular, small-headed models in All Stars always looked creepy to me... So, I dig more in Battlegrounds they have them in those toy packages for the wrestler selection... THAT is awesome, excellent concept, I'm actually hoping they polish other areas of the game in a sequel, because I see potential here! If they can tweak their animations a bit more and get that hard-hitting shockwave animations like All Stars, I may consider purchasing next time.👍

So, as far as 2K goes with these alternate titles, Battlegrounds vs Allstars is certainly closer than NBA Playgrounds vs NBA Jam which isn’t as close. Battlegrounds is fun, modes are good, gives players a lot more options. Although the CAS system in Allstars was better, and animations being really smooth, as it used animations from Midways TNA Impact game, at least Battlegrounds is a good modern contender with match types and fun factor.

Looking at comparisons I see some moves look better than the other but overall mostly the same for example trouble in paradise and skull crushing finale battlegrounds win but the rest is tied if not better on all stars in my opinion

I found myself comparing the two all too much while playing Battlegrounds and all though it is the spiritual successor to All Stars comparing the two felt like apples and oranges. All Stars was a more arcade style where as Battlegrounds is more cartoonish, AS had more of a complex move system compared to BG simplistic style, AS felt more like it was geared towards the average fan where as BG feels like its more for the younger fan who will get their parent to buy them VC so they can have their favorite wrestler.
