I love how these 2K games have always tried to lean so heavily into the simulation aspect with things like overall scores and stuff, but then go completely insane and wacky at certain points in the story. I remember one year I beat Samoa Joe in like, a throwaway match with no real stakes, so he left the WWE and didn't show back up till near the end where he had become a literal cyborg hell bent on revenge. Or the year I literally went on a journey between dimensions with Matt Hardy to the Wyatt compound and Nikki Cross was climbing the walls like something out of the exorcist. Then I had to wrestle the Undertaker in actual full on Hell.
