Shortly before he died. This video is proof that he was slowly repairing the relationship with WWE. It’s a shame that they never got back to doing real business together, some RAW appearances, participation in some way at Wrestlemania and a Hall of Fame induction while he was alive. They definitely signed Macho Man to a legends contract and he was supposed to make new appearances for the company but unfortunately died 4 months later in May. They definitely should have brought him back for an episode of RAW and definitely Wrestlemania before his death but WWE likes taking their time on certain situations and I feel that changed with The Ultimate Warrior and how he died suddenly.

Let's say Macho doesn't have his heart attack, and he and Vince are able to bury the hatchet and finally patch things up after all these years. He comes back for one final run in WWE to get the closure he didn't have after leaving in late 1994. He gets a chance to work with a CM Punk or a John Cena or a Daniel Bryan or if he stays around long enough Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, before finally hanging up the boots for good. Macho Man, even at that age vs. Cena, could've sold out any arena or big stadium anywhere in the world. They really would've been singing "John Cena Sucks" during his entrance.

I remember watching this on the official All Stars site after having no real idea who he was as far as his wrestling career (I was 13 when the game came out and started watching wrestling in the summer of 2009)but I went down a rabbit hole of his matches/promos and interviews due to his inclusion in the game and if it weren’t for Randy, Eddie and the fantasy warfare. matches I’d have never bought the game. Then he died a couple of weeks after I got it. I remember being in biology and I had a teacher who would put on Pandora while we were testing, one time Coldplay’s “The Scientist” came on and my eyes got watery cause I started thinking of Randy’s tribute montage
