I think storyline-wise it makes perfect sense. This is a Pacitti face turn, and he realizes that him and Blampied need to be united against the Jackolytes. So far, the greatest injustice Pacitti has done to Blampied in their long feud is take his name away, so as part of their truce, Pacitti is giving Blampied his name back.
