To answer your question about blood; Back then the company wanted to really sell the injury as well as the stregnth of the performers so sometimes the person hit would blade a little to make him bleed. While some are also caused normally, most of the blood i believe back then were blades.

well just a small piece of info to answer your questions. Before 1996 WWE was kinda like today, i.e. producing family friendly content, however as the Monday night war erupted between them and WCW, Vince Mcmahon came to the realization that PG content isn't cutting it and in 1997 they started producing edgy TV content under a TV14 rating. WWE kept the TV14 up until 2007 or 08 I guess. so whenever you're seeing blood, thumbtacks, risky spots, and fire. that was the WWE content from between 1997 to 2008.

What CZW does is nothing compared to what went down in ECW and the Attitude Era of WWE. If you like the extremeness and blood, then I highly recommend watching some of those classics. The wrestlers went through a lot just to put on the best show for us fans. Seeing you guys react to that compilation takes me back to my childhood. I grew up watching ECW and WWE. Loved the reaction.

That was the 90's/the attitude era. In the mid/late 90's WWE went family-friendly/PG. No more blading (to bleed intentionally), chair shots to the head or intergender matches (which were rare to begin with in WWE. Check out ECW Extreme Championship Wrestling. They thrived with the blood and guts wrestling when WWE went PG.
