Ripping off US fans airing more ads than TV when the rest of the world gets extra interviews and full matches is an interesting (read: stupid) decision IMHO.

That is the inherent problem of limited state oversight in the private sector. The U.S treats capitalism almost like a religion, and has historically treated calls to implement any policy that may affect the free market as evil communism or anti-American. The rest of the world (mostly) treats capitalism as the fiscal policy it is and institutes policies to help curb the worst of its excesses (albeit with varied levels of success)

A friend summed up what is the deal with wrestling for them. They said they only view highlights from both companies via social media, usually KZbin. They said they don't have time to sit down and look at 2 or 3 hour shows. They view the things that seem interesting and skip the rest. This is the new age everyone and it has been this way for a long time.

Yea the shows have been decent and obviously all of us long time fans watch every week no matter what, but that first show hooked no one. Even some relatives and friends of mine, who are not hardcore fans, tuned in that first week and have not been back. The reason is that they did not set any storylines up at all that first week, so viewers watched but did not tune back in after the initial excitement of that debut because there really was no reason for them to see what happens next because WWE did not give them a reason to. Now it’s also Netflix so people know they could just tune in whenever they want and fast forward commercials and segments they are not interested in, so that’s also a big reason why that Monday tune in does not feel as urgent as it did when it was on USA.

The same exact thing happened with Friday Night SmackDown on Fox. That debut show had 4 million viewers & the following week dropped to 2 million where they basically remained slightly over and slightly below for the rest of their run on Fox. Now lets see if the typical social media wrestling dork of today who obsesses over ratings, gate receipts & merch sales as much if not more than the actual product in the ring & on tv, will just simply brush this off or make it an issue? For the record, its not important & never was but if you're gonna have so much energy for low AEW ratings & their drops don't treat this like it doesn't matter at all because in both the SmackDown on Fox and Raw on Netflix cases, the WWE opened up their product to a whole new tv audience to huge numbers & MILLIONS of those viewers watched & said "No thanks". Thats WAYYYY more people that abandoned the AEW product & never came back & their hardcore audience that's left them. WWE isn't hurt by this whatsoever, it really is a slight blemish in the grand scheme of things & despite the gloom & doom from social media it didn't hurt AEW either having landed their WB deal to the butthurt of many wrestling pundits who got proven wrong in the end that those low ratings were gonna be their demise. Can we all just stop with the ratings bullshit, its officially not an issue anymore & never really was other than bragging rights between wrestling nerds on social media who've likely never had s3xual intercourse in their lives.

All the people claiming the decline has anything to do with people not having subscriptions now are delusional. Netflix haven't lost anywhere near 30% of their subscribers in a week so it's a drop caused by the interest not retained by the first show. I hadn't watched WWE (or wrestling) in years, tuned in for the debut hoping they'd get me interested again and found it painfully dull and didn't watch week 2. This shouldn't be considered normal as these 2 are suggesting. losing 10 - 20% maybe, Losing a third of the audience shows millions like me gave them a chance and they failed to keep them. It's a huge opportunity wasted and needs to be blamed on the decisions made on that show

Pat McAfee was announced to return back whenever he left to do the football season. So it should have been known for months that he was coming back

I was surprised the numbers they pulled in. This sounds just right to me... *sadly*

This past Monday, in the US, we had the College Football National Championship Game that WWE had to compete against with viewing…. It was going on at the same time…. But also what is up with the ads during an interview? Can they plan the ads or does Netflix just throw it in there whenever they want?
@themabestation2 сағат бұрын
Ironically that first show was the worst of them so far. I've quite enjoyed the last couple of weeks. Lots of interviews/promos, more matches, bigger variety of talent getting matches. More of this!

I don't know what it is, but I was looking forward to Raw on Netflix (just so I could watch it) but it somehow feels different on here, not as many matches doesn't help either

I love how every single outlet is making it about Corey Graves and Pat McAfee. Corey was told that he would get to do smack down when Pat came back. Then he was moved to NXT. So how is this got anything to do with Pat McAfee? Clearly it's Wade that took Corey's chair not Pat. Which if you'd watched, you would've seen Wade Barrett was the one taking shots at Corey. Corey said that in September he was told he would be getting smack down. Was it not September when Drew McIntyre called Wade into the Ring, looks like they were going to be starting something to me. Then all of a sudden that gets dropped Corey is no longer the SmackDown commentator and Wade has the job. So why is everyone making it about Pat?

UK tryouts? Sounds like they want Simon but don’t want him to know how eager they are by going straight to him.

Good, can't wait gifting podcasters to talk about this! Since they enjoy talking about AEW ratings... HHH might need to do job offerings to these losers to stop the criticism.
