Come for the Rick Martel theme, stay for the “sub-VHS through an RF switch” video clips.

It sounds exactly the same as it would've in the SNES version of Royal Rumble. I never actually owned the disc, nor a sega CD, but we did rent one once before. I don't remembre if we rented rage in the cage or not.

I bought this in 1993, in large part to hear the theme songs on the brand-new CD technology. Boy, was I disappointed when the sound was almost identical to the Sega Genesis technology.

I know what you mean. I didn't know the game actually existed 'till 2007. I read about it on wikipedia. I finally played the game in late 2010, and, like you, I was also disappointed.

Sega sounds was just terrible compared to SNES but Sonic and Bare Knuckle are the only ones that sounds decent
@juststatedtheobvious96333 жыл бұрын
@@sithsoldier98 Tell that to Streets of Rage, Gauntlet IV, Sonic 2, Devilish, Dune 2 etc. You could do a lot with FM synth. But most western developers were lazy and just used the default sample instruments in the GEMS tutorial. Also, Capcom thought it would be a good idea to split the sample channel in half for their Street Fighter 2 ports... Kind of ironic that the only thing US Gold's Strider II did right was the clear vocal tracks...

I'd love for this to come back as a screensaver type thing in the modern games. Switching from wrestler to wrestler, showing their bios and playing their theme. Better than still images, a gameplay demo, or random licenced music.

I've always wondered how the music department managed to make the themes sound so close to the original and how they were able to sample a lot of voice/sound effects used in the themes as well

I didn't think about this at the time, but this being sega cd, shame they didn't have cd quality entrance themes...this sounds like it's just using the genesis sound capability, which was not great.

I know, right? It just used the same music from the Super Nintendo game. It was like copy and paste. Even the sound effects were the exact same thing.

@@aaronreed5612 Also, as some who had the sega cd and 32x, I remeber looking at the box for rage in the cage months before getting the sega cd, and drooling over the amount of wrestlers, the FMVs, the cage...getting the game and quickly realizing this game was actually worse than Royal Rumble for the genesis. FMV was so revolutionary in the early 90s it blinded us kids until we actually played the game.
