TLC was a unique group. You had a soprano singer, alto singer and a rapper in the group. In no way am I knocking TLC but sales aren’t “everything” per se. DC4 and SWV were normal girl groups who MAINLY had a lead but didn’t want to “confirm” it if that made sense. Both of them had some great hits. Xscape and Envogue were girl groups where ALL of the ladies could sing and it was known. I love all of the groups because what they brought to the table.

ecentric7 because Production has to maintain and protect the integrity of the show. If Kandi storyline this season was Kandi must question Porsha about her new boyfriend (Just as ALL boyfriends on this show has been scrutinized), she has of course stay true to the “character” that was ascribed her. Clearly her “character”/role this is the bone collector of sorts (which they all have been at some point). It would look really weird if she totally switched up and contradicted her whole story line This is why they had a WHOLE SCENE dedicated to Dennis (in the car) saying that he didn’t know Kandi. All “characters” Porsha, Kandi, and Dennis are all apart of this, because production is creating a story arc to create drama. Clearly all of the drama this season from all of the ladies are contrived and forced. Most of doesn’t even seem real and very fragmented. I’d like to say this is a dumb story line for Kandi bc it is uncharacteristic of her from of her previous seasons. But this proves that production struggled this year for authentic and interesting story lines for Kandi (and the other ladies) beyond her normal offering.

I like TLC, but people tend to overrate them because of Left Eye's Death. Destiny's Child for me was the best girl group of the 90's and most definitely had the most longevity. They could put out a reunion album today, and it would do very well considering today's music climate.

@limited access Hmmm, I mean agree for the most part, but let's be real again. TLC and En Vogue weren't nearly as popular in the mainstream markets especially En Vogue. R&B, hip hop, and rap were niche markets back then not the norm. For black people, yes, we were very aware of these groups but the majority of the world didn't really know them. I think TLC got more notoriety with No Scrubs and Waterfalls than they did with their condom over the eye days. But hmmm, I still say DC was the bigger group. They had way more world recognition. TLC weren't household names worldwide just specifically more in the U.S.
