Its good to see the country relaxing its policies for the sake of history. It also restores some well deserved acknowledgement and pride in their military heritage without reference to wayward political ideals expressed in the 30's and early 40s. I think more Germans are becoming enlightened about the positive aspects of their culture and not negative aspects.

Reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in Huntington, W.Va. in the 1950s - Most of our fathers fought in WW II and many of them returned with German Army equipment - So the kids in my part town would go the city park near by and play "Western Front 1944-45" using these surplus U.S. Army and German Army uniforms - and - believe it or not - real German and American rifles (without the ammunition, of course) When we formed our pretend platoons most of the kids wanted to play German soldiers! The kids thought German WW II uniforms and helmets looked "neater" than the American uniforms and "steel pot" helmets.

This is great, great stuff. I re-enacted for years in the US as a Russian soldier. The German units we played shoot ‘em up with were great guys and we had a great time. Nice vid.

@@aaronwassen8494 Yes. And I do not see anythings wrong with displaying a swastika on uniforms equipment, flags, etc there for historical purposes. No different than US Civil War Confederate symbols or even symbols of suppressive communist regimes in educating the public. The Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark all allow the display of swastikas in reenactments these days.

Very interesting film. Looks like they were all having fun - even the guys that were "killed". Just a bit off on weapons handling, especially the young guy with the Sturmgewehr (not that someone in the Wehrmacht that age and rank would have been issued one). Even with the shorter 7.92x33mm cartridge, you wouldn't want to fire it with just the bottom tip of the butt against your shoulder.
