My great-grandfather was a paraglider in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division, stationed in Britain, Germany and parts of Poland. He helped liberate Wöbbelin , a German concentration camp that was a subcamp of the Neuengamme camp. Although there is footage of it, he is not present in the footage. He was not only a hero to so many, he was my hero. He gave me my first guitar, which I learned to play on when I was 4 years old, which I still own to this day, it is my workhorse and I will make it famous. He was the kindest soul and he lived a good long life, thank you and to all the other KZbinrs who preserve these priceless articles of history! R.I.P. Robert G. Anderson, 1926-2017

My father-in-law was a radio operator during World War II. I did not get to talk to him much - he died shortly after I met him - but on the day of his funeral, my father and I were outside before the Mass service. A man approached us, and we introduced ourselves. He said he served with my FIL, and told us about how my FIL saved 2 men that were shot after reaching a sharp corner on a road in northern France. Not only that, he received a Silver Star. I researched the records, but they were destroyed in the St. Louis records depository fire. We could not believe it. I told my wife, and she was blown away and it helped her grief. What a man. He never told his wife or daughter about it, He was s high school teacher in Chicago for 30+ years. What a guy. This is how you communicate effectively. I call bullshit on the ones saying that radio comms aren't like this in reality. Ever listen to those recordings of the Lancaster bomb crews? They are casually assessing damage and enemy threats while under fire in a pretty normal tone of voice. Comms need to be cool, clear, and concise so everyone knows what's going on. Radio etiquette is important, ESPECIALLY when in a combat scenario. It rarely ends well for radio operators if they're communicating poorly. I personally say this interpretation is pretty accurate, although definitely staged.
@davidprice71622 жыл бұрын
No, it’s modern a re-enactment. And yes, fake machine gun fire included. It’s at least ten times too good sound quality to have been live radio singles, coming from different directions recorded on a 1940s tape, with zero interference or changes in sound quality.

What tankettes were still being used by the time bazookas had been developed?
@Orcus__6 жыл бұрын
TetrisClock Classification of tanks might have changed over time, so they could have been panzer IIs or panzer PanzerIs. Which today are considered light tanks. This could also have been in Italy where tankettes were more frequently used.

Type 94 tankettes were still encountered by U.S. forces in the Pacific.

Prove it's fake. Cause I'm not sure if your aware we have a device called a computer it does a thing called clearing up muffled recordings from the past. Since we combine a computer with also a studio who are paid to restore old recordings. But also the fact you can hear the difference between their voices. Let's not forget if it's from WW2 it's likely over 75 years old. Many people back then had a high pitched voice. Cause they were young.
