Outstanding presentation. I worked on A-4s as a reserve mech in VMA-124 - another squadron with a proud history of operating the F4U in the Pacific. Semper Fi, Devil Dogs!

Sarah, what a treat! I knew the exec, Jeff Dorroh, pretty well. He became a judge in Oregon, died 2008. The Death Rattlers will feature prominently in my upcoming book on USMC fighter units and operations.

Hi, first off thank you for posting these images, they're really good and full of great history. Yesterday I met a corsair pilot who flew in VMFA-323 by the name of Joe McPhail, he got 2 kills over okinawa and later went to go serve in Korea. does that name sound familiar to you? And do you know if any of these images have him in them? Thanks

Hi, I'm glad you liked the photos here. It is so amazing that you met a Corsair Pilot from my dad's squadron! I don't think I have any photos of Joe McPhail. I will check my dad's photo albums when I get a chance. Here's the link to a book I made of the WWII squadron. www.blurb.com/b/1753845-vmf-323-wwii-photo-album
